I received very basic letter today giving no details of why I was not successful at recent job interview.
I passed the questionnaire
I was told I passed interview
my assessor told me to make a mistake as we were getting close to depot,as he could not find a fault.
Now am I entitled to follow up on why I was not accepted.Curiosity more than anything if my face does not fit I can live with that but when their is not a suitable reason then that pi**es me off.
Sometimes it just happens mate, i put a seriously good bloke up for a job, a bloke whom i would trust absolutely and put my reputation at stake, he was interviewed by the wrong junior manager type who rejected him (n reason no follow up), but several idiots have been employed since who have done no end of damage and ■■■■■■ the company about, there is no rhymne nor reason to it, its the company that suffers through their own idiocy sometimes.
Don’t let it get to you, there’s always something else.
They’ll never admit it, but someone was probably earmarked for the job and you (or anybody else for that matter) was never going to get it. They just go through the process in the “interest of fairness”.

They might have been looking for somebody younger, and just invited you to interview to make their “diversity” figures look good- this has happened to me before.
Onwards and upwards don’t let it get you down, it took me years to find a good job in transport.
The issue in many of these cases is the management who have the say have never done the job and have no idea what questions should be asked at interview, I went for a job once where an imagined scenario involved my “team” surviving in a life boat with a list of objects such as a radio a mirror a piece of sail ball of string ETC the task was to say how you would use the items and why.
The interview lasted 5 hours and not once was I questioned on my driving experience, graduates and office types run “logistics” as it is now called some of them are extremely good but sadly the bulk of them couldn’t spot a decent driver if he/she fell from a tree and hit them on the head.
Play them at there own foolish games tell them all the crap they love to hear and you’ll be a shoe in.
They will probably have had a conflab over candidates after doing interviews and it will have come down to who they think ‘fits in’ the best. Gut instinct plays a major part in those sort of decisions & it’d be hard to offer you an explanation.

I concur. I got knocked back at the start of this year by Fedex after working across Christmas on what I thought was temp to perm… Used me up when I could have been coining it in at a number of other places, and then just replaced me with an outsider come February. Not happy. Manager just took a dislike to me that’s all - but backed up by his own peers elsewhere within the business. So much for the American business model.
No such experience this time though - I’ve “passed” my temp to perm this time around with what’s clearly a more reputable firm, and I’m now full time for Brakes.

Congratulations on getting that Winseer, hope it proves a long term decent number for you.
The way i see Fedex drivers going about their work without a minute to live, i reckon you’ve got the better job mate.
I’ve been turned down for so many jobs in the past (not all of them truck driving jobs) despite having the qualifications, experience and feeling that the interview went well.
One I was turned down for I got a call a month later asking if I was interested in it.
I took the job, but asked why they didn’t take me first time to which they said the other guy was available for an immediate start and I had to give 2 weeks notice.
I’ve also turned down jobs though and turned down 2 in one day, one company phoned up to offer me the job on the way to the next interview. I was polite, but I didn’t give them a reason, so it works both ways.
I think companies are try not to give a reason as the less they say the less chance of getting accused of discrimination, and unlike so many companies at least they sent you a letter telling you that you hadn’t got the job.
I think you need to let it go, probably nothing sinister about the reason just had to pick from several good applicants and your name didn’t get drawn out of the hat.
Sometimes it just comes down to your face sitting, or bone idol middle management just picking at random.
I always brown nose a little and try and leave a memorable insertion.
I’m curious though, did you choose to make a mistake when requested to do so. If so are we talking a bit of heavy braking or whanking off a ■■■■■ load of cyclists.
