TTX Transport Oldham

Has anyone any information regarding this company ? ,looks to be well run with a well maintained fleet ? .

ttx boy on here will set u straight

they deliver pot noodles

They have rather odd slogans on the front of their units.

think its 7.25 for 55 hrs and you get to drive a renault too what a result :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

When I worked in retail we had TTX delivering our goods. The drivers never really moaned about their company they all seemed quite happy.

Can’t really tell you about rates etc because I never asked, I think most of the drivers do full weeks out (mon-fri) equipment was always well looked after.

The drivers them self were also always really nice. When I started doing my theory and HPT they’d always ask how I was getting on and one of them gave me a folder full of info on drivers hours and the WTD. Great bunch of lads.

No wonder the transport industry is in the mess it in with an attitude like this , here we have a company paying a sensible pay scale , running sensible trucks etc etc , perhaps some of the Stobbarts drivers who have just lost their jobs may just be keen to join TTX .

I have worked for TTX twice and have no complaints.
You will not earn a fortune but you will not get worked to death or have to do anything
that VOSA would dislike.

Good luck if you apply Cheers.

Well i dont think they have been mentioned on here as a bad firm or any complaints so it can’t be bad, and the firm is just plodding on… Black on Green or Green on Black.

And my specialist subject tonight is TTX of Oldham. Otherwise known as T T Express (Oldham) Ltd :grimacing:

Make sure you check the rates on offer. New employees are NOT on the same deal as exisiting employees.

Existing drivers
£7.25 hour for first 55 hours followed by Time and a Quarter for the rest. Saturdays and Sundays time and a half. Bank Holidays used to be time and a half but this has been removed as from 1st April so only normal time for Bank holidays (unless at 55 + hours) if that makes sense?

New drivers
£7.25 per hour for first 55 hours then time and a quarter for 55+ within 5 shifts. Time and a half for 55+ in a 6th shift and again bank holidays normal rate

You should be able to guess from this the planners job is to avoid reaching a 6th shift - but they’re crap at it !!

Night out £19.50. They issue a £40 float for parking plus offer a £5 ‘meal allowance’ if you park somewhere that saves a parking fee i.e a customers premises - but they don’t really like lay-by parking but you can get away with it. Don’t park on services without permission or you won’t get your parking money

Start BEFORE 04:00 and there’s a £10 (taxable) bonus (don’t start at 04:00 - you won’t get it!)

They used to offer a ‘weekend’ shift something like Thursday to Monday and this paid better rates but scrapped this and any odd shifts like that now get the same rates as anyone else.

Free “Health Cash Plan” after 3 months. Group Pension where they contribute 3% (so do you). Uniform after 3 months.

Anyone want the night rates?

And - stop press - you just might not get a green wagon as they are turning to contract hire vehicles in whatever colour they come in

PS - Don’t quote me on any of the above. I’m tired and might have got it wrong but i don’t think so

I think shep has covered just about everything.

I applied there years ago and found the rates to be too poor, so never went there.

Reading, the poor rates have got worse.

I’m out of work and round the corner from them, and I still won’t be applying.

A job is a job at the end of the day. Even if its only to keep you going until something better paid comes around.

True, but I’m with wayne on this one…scandalous pay that.

Out of interest, what would you consider a poor rate…? If the rules allowed it would you work for £5 an hour 'cos a job’s a job at the end of the day?? Or £4■■ where would you draw the line? :unamused:

Considering I’ve had 2 days experience driving C+E since passing my test I’d take work at minimum wage if it meant I’d be gaining experience and getting more cash than at the jobcentre.

That’s not to say I’d settle with that job, I’d stay there until I had a better offer.

Fair enough. I can see your point But…who’s going to offer you much more if you admit at interview you are currently working for the minimum wage? If I was the TM, I’d think ‘great we’ll stick him on 20p/hour more than MW and he’ll think he’s in luck…and we’re getting the job done for next to nowt.’ Obviously, you may drop lucky…

If you are a hard worker and you do the job well, you should set your sights a little higher than minimum wage. On an artic that’s scandalous. In fact in any lorry it’s scandalous. Most firms paying such appalling wages tend to be crap to work for anyway.

Just an observation. There are plenty of others who don’t mind thrashing themselves for sod all. Some even enjoy it… :smiling_imp:

Best of luck anyhow if you’re still looking…

They care for the children and my ■■■■■ stink today

who would be stupid enough to admit at an interview that they would work for minimum wage       what i do is wait until they tell me the wage and start mental calculations and decide there and then, ive walked out a few interviews telling them thier money is crap.
