Trump comes up trumps for truckers

There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down. So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:

• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.

• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.

This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of ■■■■. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.

God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump. And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created?’

If being a ■■■■ was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set."

Seems to sum it up pretty well to me!!

Like him, loathe him or even somewhere in between, he says stuff like it is, does not pander to pseudo diplomacy, nor is political correctness his main priority, and his best quality is he takes no ■■■■ in a John Wayne type stylee, giving off an air of not to be messed with or ■■■■ ed about.
I’m ■■■■ sick of these wishy washy carrer politicians, mainly on this side of the pond, who watch every word in fear of upsetting some or another ‘minority community’ :unamused: , and who prioritise on that over real issues, …including crime. :open_mouth:
The thing is most of these ‘communities’ (I hate that term btw) don’t give a stuff, the only individuals who claim to be ’ offended’ are those who chose to be, mainly because they think they ought to be, …and of course those who’s entire way of life is being ‘offended by proxy’. :imp:

I hate these American haters with a vengeance, we owe an eternal debt to the US whether you like it or not, or whether or not that does not happen to fit in with their anti US feeling, for stepping in in WW2,… yeh ok, I know, that was years ago, but if they had not we would still be feeling the dire effects of a tyrannical ruling regime today more likely than not.
I would sooner trust or have the backing of the US over any European state.

Trump has his faults 10 fold, granted, but you name me the perfect politician, let alone the perfect US President.
I don’t follow US politics closely, but as far as I know he’s pretty popular in the majority over there.

accurate post.
trump says the reality as it is with no messing.
whether you like him or not, then he has balls similar to maggies though she had a better hairdo.
he cuts off aid to central america and is doing something about not letting illegals swarm in anymore,( albeit a tad slowly).
openly racist,sexist,bigoted and non pc
he would blend in with any of the customers in your average glasgow pub with the only way he would get a kicking is because of being a ginger.
whats not to like about the man??

Using the situation to his advantage. Grabbing vital blue collar votes as well as throwing some middle class in their for good measure.

He will win a landslide or by default if anything anyway. I don’t think Biden will remember how to get to the White House by that time

trump has balls big enough to go out in public with that comb over.
he has enough money not to give a toss about wages from ruling the free world, not what anyone elses opinion is compared to his…
he is building a wall to keep the vermin out,and shipping the ones back that they find once they are in.
way to go trumpybaby…shouldnt we be taking a leaf from his book?

“Throughout his 2015–2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump called for construction of a large fortified border wall, claiming that if elected he would “build the wall and make Mexico pay for it.”[57] Even before declaring his candidacy he declared he wanted “nothing to do with Mexico other than to build an impenetrable WALL”. In his June 2015 announcement of his candidacy he promised “I would build a great wall, and no one builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great wall and I’ll have Mexico pay for that wall.”[58] Throughout his campaign he described his vision of a concrete wall, 30 to 50 feet (10–15 m) high and covering 1,000 miles (1,600 km) of the 1,900 mile (3,050 km) border”
“On December 17, 2019, acting Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Mark Morgan stated that 93 miles of new wall has been built during the Trump administration; according to CBP figures, at least 90 miles of that replaced existing structures.[13] A private organization called We Build the Wall has constructed 0.5 miles (0.80 km) of new wall on private property near El Paso, Texas, with Trump’s encouragement.”

So, that`s 3 miles of the 1,000 done so far then…
“way to go trumpbaby”…yep, a long, looong, way yet.

And what people choose not to remember is that Clinton (Hilary and Billary),Obama and George Dubya wanted to build a wall too but that’s conveniently forgotten by the Trump hating, one sided media of this world who just want to bust Trumps balls for everything he’s done…
I wonder which country gets back to work first after this “virus” ■■■■ has done it’s work…
Got a feeling it won’t be the U.K…

How many speeches did Obama, Clinton(s) and Bush make about building a wall?
Did any of them make such a song about that, and make promises about that, as Trump has?

Bush built 580miles of “barriers”, 2006 to 2009.
Obama said 2011 the barriers were sufficient.
“We have gone above and beyond what was requested by the very Republicans who said they supported broader reform as long as we got serious about enforcement. All the stuff they asked for, we’ve done. But … I suspect there are still going to be some who are trying to move the goal posts on us one more time. They’ll want want a higher fence. Maybe they’ll need a moat. Maybe they want alligators in the moat.[a] They’ll never be satisfied. And I understand that. That’s politics”
(Farley Politifact)

“Who will be first back to work?”
I dont know. Ill take a punt that it will be the country with one of the biggest death rates though.

I’ll tell you what I think of Trump; I thi… nah, forget it, I’m drunk. I’ll post it on Facebook instead

But he doesnt..... he says things that simply are not true. Telling lies is NOT saying "stuff like it is", it isnt “reality”.
You may say all politicians lie?
(You may also say he isn`t a politician… the untying of that knot (lie) is beyond me)

But look at his record. He told as many “bald untruths” in his first 3 weeks as President as Obama did in the whole of his Presidency!
Incredible performance…literally.
nytimes.com/interactive/201 … Position=3

Isn’t it strange how politicians get lamblasted for “changing their mind” or “changing their policies”, then we get Trump who wasn’t a politician in the first place STILL criticized for saying the opposite to something he said 5 minutes earlier…

It should be keeping the opposition on their toes, not Trump supporters on theirs. :bulb:

One of the reasons I don’t bother with Facebook, Twitter and the like.
You get carried away, make a bravado statement, or say something about someone that you maybe should not.
Then things have a habit of coming back to bite you on the arse, and you always run the risk of, embarrassment, and making a complete 2 hat of yourself when somebody digs up your foot in the gob statement.
I can just about manage that on here already now, … so that’s as far as I go with any form of social media:…but at least most stuff I say it’s only trucking based rather than life based.

Each to his own etc etc, but not for me, I don’t need everybody and his Dad knowing what is going on in my life.
Christ I would end up inside.

Getting back to the subject, has Trump actually done anything for truckers as a trade or has he just provided a pat on the head? Because ignoring all the opinions about him I’ve not see hes done anything apart from say well done?

From what I’ve seen over the years you could look back at almost any political leader and find something say said in the past to hit back at them. The media do it all the time, just think of what they spent the last few years doing to Jeremy Corbyn and now its started with Keir Starmer.

A question on Quora was asked: Why do British people not like Donald Trump?”

I think the answer should be, Why does this person believe the British do not like Trump, when from what I’ve seen he’s as divisive in the UK as he is in the USA and across the World?

Maybe the poster doesn’t live in the UK and only receives one opinion from their media outlets?

Which does raise the question, how can we trust what we are being told by our media, when somebody makes the decision on what gets put into a news report or newspaper and what gets left out, how they spin a story or how a video clip is edited or which photo’s to use?
(remember how The Sun would use bad pictures of Labour Politicians and flattering Pictures of Tory ones, it wasn’t accidental)

So those that who rely on only one source of news, often because it agrees with their ideologies are really only getting one side of the story, which can only reinforce their opinion, why do you think totalitarian states find it so important to control the media?

The “Divisions” appear to be on both sides of the pond “Between those asked” (hate Trump) and those “never asked” (either like, or at least don’t mind Trump)

If you ask the haters why they hate - they’ll then deny that they “Hate” at all of course…
If you manage to find someone who’ll admit to liking rather than just admiring Trump - they’ll probably go onto the defensive, and start denying that they are a Right Wing fascist on the spot, most likely… :unamused: :unamused:

Perhaps everyone on Left AND RIght should just stop being apologists for themselves and others they’ll never meet, instead concentrating on getting their own f----d up lives sorted out right now.
We all find “Upheaval” a complete pain in the arse. Surely Left and Right can agree on that

Coronavirus - doesn’t bother me anywhere near as much as the disuption to life and happiness that has gone on long enough already, but is set for worse to come, as there’s no end in sight as of yet.

Since my political profile is Left on Finance, Center on Social matters, and Right on Law & Order - I don’t have much respect for police antics at present, our social order is in tatters already, so I find myself swinging left and only piping up about financial matters, which means more and more often - I’m going to sound like a ranting Leftie on here, despite the fact I never was one.

Get out there, and get what you have already earned, and paid taxes/National Insurance for.
If your local council is routinely wasting all your money on guff to try and get themselves re-elected, them “try someone else” - ANYONE else - just get rid of these “Jobs-4-Life Jobsworths” that get re-elected, get the government grant, waste the lot, and then moan about “more imposed Tory Scum Austerity” when it is they who blew the cash, they who gave away their former PPE stocks months ago, and they who’ve briefed the police to act like they do, hoping presumably that the incumbent government - somehow get the blame for all and any misdeeds of local government at this time.

Meanwhile, where are these hospitals that are so quiet as to have NHS staff doing dance routines, wasting a bit more hospital kit into the bargain?

I even heard James O’Brien criticizing this “Boat Donutting” thing on the river, with the gathered police-jostled crowds clapping away like seals, and totally ignoring social distancing… :unamused:
…The city that managed to produce a Trump blimp, but is now unable to produce PPE, having either thrown away old stocks or sold it on abroad with all that they had in stores beforehand. :unamused:

Surely there must be a limit to “what harm jobsworth suits would do the public” in order to get elected? :frowning:
