Trucknet is doomed

Snarley:
oops !
Did I touch a nerve
LOL

I don’t see any nerves that have been touched on this thread.

I hope this helps.

Nah, just made yourself look stupid.

When “Trucknet Haulage” is set up  I would like to propose Snarley as Transport Manager, he seems to have the perfect attitude

Nope - but you did make yourself look a knob…

Rikki-UK:
I wouldnt say TruckNet is lucrative ( and I see the figures  ) but it does enough to justify the owners keeping it going.
I have lost count how many times over the past 13 years members here with better foresight and knowledge than me have foretold its imminent demise :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :unamused:
But we seem to be still here. :sunglasses:
It has changed in 13 years , in character and tone, but so has the industry and its members, - remember TruckNet itself doesnt provide the content on here, its not written by us, its written by you. So you lot set the tone. We just stop the excesses
I know people hate it when I give facts to back up my point of view- but the simple fact of the matter is last week we had over 617,000 page views, the same week last year we had 520,000 thats close to 100,000 more page views a week.

Doomed? well we maybe but not just yet or for the foreseeable future I think, but what do I know for 13 years all those more knowledgeable members have told me its dying

Straight questions deserve straight answers, don’t you think !

Are you financially involved in the Trucknet forum in any way?

Does this forum use autopost in any way, shape, or form?

I founded it , used to own it and now am employed by the people who now own it - is that what you mean? :unamused:
Although the forums are only a small percentage of my responsibilities and my time

Does this forum use autopost in any way, shape, or form?

No :grimacing:

HTH

He put his money where his mouth is at 1 point for this forum so did a few others over the years as well

HTH

He put his money where his mouth is for this forum for a number of years so did a few others

Fixed that for you animal
And those that did will always have my gratitude - a couple of folks in particular stepped in during the real hard times to keep this site going- maybe one day , when I have retired I will tell the story in its entirety not the half facts and supposition that some people seem to think they know as facts.

And those that behind the scenes worked at and put their money in to keep us going and know the truth should know I am more than grateful.

Quite a number of years IIRC

While this is my first post hey all , and being a member for a few months , and holding my class 2 for only 8 months , I’ve been reading the posts on a regular basis and learned alot from this forum , because others ask questions thats what a forum is for . I just hope one day if some was to ask me a question or if i watch can watch them reverse ill be more than happy to help . Or hopefully have an answer for them

its tough being the new driver but if and when someone new comes along and works beside me ill give them as much advise as i can .

Welcome Andy- most here dont bite but expect a bit of banter
You will find a lot of people come on TruckNet simply to knock it… personally i ignore them… no other truck drivers website has raised £1000’s for charity, taken drivers to experience truck driving in the USA - got drivers jobs, and even a few relationships and marriage ( can name at least two) , given drivers the advice they need to become owner operators, given new entrants the chance to get their licences for free(schools offering users here free training) , discounted ADR refreshers and supported drivers and their families during bad times and a whole lot more

Its a great place once you learn who is worth listening too and who to ignore and that only comes by using the forums and by being part of the community so pile in and enjoy

Welcome to Trucknet.
While there are people on here who knock every question asked, as if you should know the answer. Plenty here will try and help, you just have to learn to ignore the smart arse comments.

Just read the whole thread and having consumed more than one Glenfiddich during that time  have now forgotten half the things I was going to comment on.

Bestbooties talked about newbie C2 holders and the usual catch 22 situation.
I’ve said it many times and will again - Trade Plate work. They will take you on and you get paid to experience just about every make, gearbox, body type and axle configuration there is. I speak from experience, literally.
Also there are companies who will take the same on, i.e. Robert Wiseman.

As for asking advice on the 'net. What’s better? A newbie (or even an old hand!) faced with a new job next morning: ask here the previous evening and arrive at work with their new found knowledge OR don’t ask here, arrive at work at 5am to find a dark and deserted yard, keys left in the wherever for you, a truck you’ve never driven before and nobody around to ask?

This is an excellent place to ask for and get good advice. Unfortunately you just need to sift through all the dross posts to find the good answers.

Now whilst we’re ion the subject, I, as a relatively old hand (1991 c+e) but not having been in a truck for a few years need to ask a question: How many modern artic units do you need to actually withdraw its slip ■■■■ ( ) to dip the oil, or are they all electronic now and will scream at you when running through the ignition on self test procedures if top up is required? (As earlier Actros did).

Edit: forgot to say, this thread has now nudged me into going and visiting (soon) a section of the forum I used to visit regularly years back but rarely do now, Newbies, to see if I can answer any questions for anybody there.

Snarley:
I read the posts every day, but lately it is doing my brain in…

  • I can’t reverse
  • what is my spreadover
  • Tacho regukations
  • bla bla bla
When I was 17, I was sent to marseille, on my own in a transit. I bought a map, and did it.
I now drive a 44t artic, when I get new jobs, I sort it,

WTF is wrong with the new generation of drivers.

Your my hero MR PERFECT!

Ignore the ones that knock the question. I am known to ask a the odd stupid question on this forum. I proud to say i am a new driver driving a class 2 vehicle doing 7 - 15 drops a day. Love it

Not many will remember this but years ago when these boards were fairly new a question was asked something like " I’m going to Russia or somewhere like that " within 24 hr he had all the info he needed & there were not that many members back then

That is when you know you have something good quick & easy

Welcome to the Truck Nuthouse UK  As some on here know, I came back to driving after a 10 year lay off, and was nervous about what I may have forgotten over the years. I found TNUK and any (dumb) questions I had were answered for me. Couple of people here rip the ■■■■ (see the original post) but it was a huge help to me, and is a help for others.
Help where you can, and have a laugh where you can, and enjoy it all
