Trucking into Albania last week LOADS of pics. My diary

When we left Athens we headed back towards Patras and took the Rio bridge (formally just a ferry) and headed northbound to Albania, destination Tirana, ive got over 100 pics of this part of the tour because it was so amazing what we saw!!
First up is the approach tom the border from Greece

and in the customs park, Albanian side were these

and us

Now here is the fun bit, we had a good few hours of roads like this on the way up to Tirana, absolutley unbeleivable, i will never complain about the state of a road in GB again!! The drivers are nutters here as well…

I think thats enough for one post, will put some more up later!!!

Who the hell thought that was a good idea ?.

is that silver alfa guiding you or is it just coincidence it is in most of the pics?

excelleny pics again mate. i would love your job!

Thanks for those brilliant shots.
Was the bloke in the silver Alfa with you, or was he just with the local Mafia?

I never got into Albania, but I know a man who did. Dreva, where are you?

Terrific pictures. Those roads remind me of driving across Turkey forty years ago, the so-called Asian Highway was just like that between Istanbul and Ankarra - after that it got bad.

Any more photographs. . . ?

Great pics. What maps are you using ? Not worth turning TT on I’m sure.

The silver Alfa took us from the Greek border all the way to Tirana, undercover coppers aparrently, we did see them waving a gun at a few cars now and again!! After we reloaded at the concert they then escorted us to the Macedonian border. Ihave just put a few more pics up in the photo forum but prob put some more up on this post as well.

great pictures, where did the locals ever learn to drive?tests must have been an optional extra

whos with you cos im a good driver but even i cant drive a truck and jump in the passenger side and take photos then jump back

Yes, can you nip in the loft and see if you have the article about John Williams doing the aid convoy to Tirana. He got a lot of bad press from it, because there were some hooray hoo ha’s trying to tell him how to do his job.

I remember some old hands reading it and throwing it down in disgust.

Im not sure which magazine it was in though, probably about 1990/91
