BS is Basel. it can easily be traced. What was the name of the driver…?

Kate:
Truckerash, Absolutely brilliant, Keep 'em coming.

Have you got any Peter G Bowker, or Leslie Trucking pictures. They did euro work in the 70s and 80s.
Also do you have any of the RH Stevens Swiss registered motors, they’d be blue, probably Volvos, one of which was registered BS4020.
Or DOW Freight, pereferably the MANs.
Please
Keep up the good work, looking forward to the National thread.

ITS YOUR LUCKY DAY KATE

propa lorry:
hiya ash, just wonderin have you any pix, memories or anything of xjo 905r,my friend has the remains of this lorry, apparently it was used by the who as part of their road crew, maybe owned by a part of their group of companies?
It was like a creamey colour with some wierd stripes ont side with gold bits??most of the parts have been gathered so will be starting soon.
he used to own 904R for a few years which he sold last year to someone in staffordshire.
started runnin abroad again so catch yer end o week.

Hi TERRY: took a few days, but i found these:
Havnt got pic of 905R, but these are obviously from the same fleet.
I did quite a bit of work to Shepperton and saw the trucks parked there regularly. There was also a massive Winnebago with a trailer, all painted the same as the trucks. Impressive looking kit!
The black and white photo is courtesy of DawsonRentals and was taken outside the Royal Albert Hall for a publicity ad.
All the trucks were leased from Dawsons who at the time were based in Leighton Buzzard (now at Milton Keynes).

and while were on the subject of rock n roll truckin

(im also sure its been said before but them other ones are ml exectutives, who are now just a pa hire company in a small warehouse behind sainsburys at crayford

Truckerash, you are an absolute star.
Thanks for the PGB and Leslie pics, the old man is going to be so chuffed when I show him those tomorrow.
Maybe you’ve got a pic of the Leslie Hino? or maybe not

As for the RHS Swiss Volvo, I remembered BS4020 is lurking in my collection somewhere, hidden behind B420BOL (R N Saunders Scania.) Must look it out and post it.
BS4020 was driven by Cornish Ian, and was actually an F12 with F10 badges on…

As I said before,Kate. BS is Basel Stadt reg.

harry:
As I said before,Kate. BS is Basel Stadt reg.

Yes I know harry, RHS were holding hands with Nord Transport in Basel, Nord sorted all the import and export. Not sure who owned who to be honest.

Here’s another one for Euromat. Spot the Celeb on the roof of the Redburn truck!!
We’ve had a pic of Chris Redburn’s first truck, the buses in the picture are the first two Phoenix buses!
I sould have a few more rock and roll truck pics soon.

evenin all:
im up the road at the mo, wont be home til wed or thurs :frowning:
normal service will be resumed then…
plenty more piccys to come

in the meantime. For jessicas dad; nearly time mate… you aint got to wait long now, told you id find sumthing reckon ull be owing me a few dollars.
all im gonna say is Scania Merc ERF and Foden

and whos the celeb then timthebus?
is it euromats dad?

We’ll have to wait and see, perhaps Mr Nightmoves might recognise who it is!

Kate Nord never owned anything except Nord & a Biro pen . Anybody that actually ran the trucks carried the costs of the transport. The pink parrafin man tried to get Nord to supply trucks but they just got Swiss subbies…

timthebus:
We’ll have to wait and see, perhaps Mr Nightmoves might recognise who it is!

mr nightmoves says its cliff richard, thinks the photo was taken round st austall somewhere?

(fortunatly ash cliff richard is not my dad, and if my dad was on my truck roof i would tell him to get down!!!)

i will take some up to date pics and pop on here or a new thread

It is indeed Sir Cliff. Who are you doing at the moment Euromat?

timthebus:

on the police at the mo then take that

DEANB:
Atkins,a real blast from the past, they used to have a office at Poole docks,
are they still going ■■? i havent seen one of their motors for years !

Re that newer iveco whilst im not a fan i believe (happy to be corrected ?)
they made a twin turbo one that really flew ? i remember an owner driver
had the first one (so he said) in the country it was red from memory and
he used to sub for Curries of Dumfries, used to always come through
Poole,he reckoned that it would keep up with a 142 ■■? a big statment i
know but im only repeating what he said !

Also can you lot remember all the french owner drivers that were still
running ford transcontinentals for Laurent Pelliet in the late 80s ?

unfortunately Atkins was another name to disappear under the UCI name along with Robsons.

Nice to see the photos of Alan Taylors trucks. I think he used to have a Mack also. I used to know Alan fairly well as we both did traction for GBE and he bought my Globetrotter from me ( HNH 350 Y ) when I bought a Pegasso Troner which was in GBE,s colours, any photos of my old Globetrotter ? ,I did see it about 7 years ago going around Rennes painted orange.

this the photo you looking for kerbut <a%20href=“http://photobucket.com”%20target=“_blank”><img%20src=“http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee5/runabout28/globetrotter.jpg"%20border=“0”%20alt="Photo%20Sharing%20and%20Video%20Hosting%20at%20Photobucket”>

blimey! small world. I have a photo of the Globey, not brilliant but it’s parked in Lee Lines yard. Had never heard of Transportation, so presumed it was an out of area haulier, I was in Poundbury taking photos of the Dorchester Transport fleet at the time. I see now that you were based in Dorchester, I am from Weymouth originally. I can’t post the pic at the moment as 1. I don’t have a scanner and 2. Michael Marshall has a load of my photos seeing if he can use any in his next book, and the Dorch Trans are with them, Will see what I can do when I get pic back about posting it.

My God Ash! The other day when I spoke to you on the phone, you said you had been busy on here, had I not seen it? I had no idea how huge this thread was. Now I have finally gone through the pics (and several pairs of pants!!!) I can add a bit. Wow! My era! Unfortunately my photos from the 80’s are on ‘proper photos’ and I don’t have a scanner. However, just to ad a bit, I met someone a couple of years ago at Gaydon, and agreed to build him a model of a Beresford truck (I think you know him-Rob). He duly lent me all his photos for reference, and this week sent me a disc he has had made up of all the pics, so here are a few, so I can join in!!

Looks like there is a White Road Commander in the line up of old names here, Dover by the looks of it.

The one with the Bassett truck in the background was sent to me by Bassetts while I was searching for more reference on Beresfords, it was taken when they took them over, and the trucks changed livery.
I am flying out to work with my uglier brother this weekend for 11 days, must be mad! so will have to catch up when I get back. Keep it up mate, it’s fantastic! (sod the book on the middle east, do one on the '80’s!)
