I think someone who used to drive one of those mobile x ray machines married one of the girls who worked there also.
My lad was one of those ( still is) driving one of those mobile X ray machines, he lived with a girl from the Garonne, for some time, they had a daughter but it all fizzled out. But all that was 15 years ago now. He now lives in Monza

That would be a bloke from up North somewhere, he was on for CRD, I worked for them for a bit, not on the MRIs though, can’t remember his name but the last time I saw him he was driving a blue Renault Turboliner on Turin plates, he wore a lot of chunky jewellery IIRC & his bird worked in the resturaunt.
R Slicker, so you married Emma then, do you still drive a pink lorry?
[quote="nicholas here is a photo i took at scan trucks south mimms of Brian yeardleys VOLVO.
around 1986 the driver didn’t mind me taking the photo but he wasn’t a happy bunny. I think his drawbar trailer was broken down, he couldn’t understand why i wanted to take the photo but i’m glad i did.[/quote]
Hello Nicholas,
Is it possilble that this picture can be posstid on the side from Frans Maas?

No the bloke with all the chunky bling would have been Clive, he’s from Hull. My lad is Nicholas, a biker, a real biker. He was living with Margarita, if you remember her.
R Slicker. Married to Emma? Well Hi to you Brian, long time no see, are you still in Italia? and is Emma keeping well? I’ve spoken to Kevin on here. Why do you all have silly names? it’s far better to know who you’re talking to . I now know who Kevin is, Charlie Gethin and Bobby Cairns and now you.
r slicker:
i think i can say that i have the best memory of carisio. i met my wife who worked theirstill together now
hello brian.
i remember you well,i was driving for an irish company and used to spend a lot of time in mamas.

i knew emma better, after all she was the person serving the food.
how are the 2 of you, have you got kids now>where are you living?
i was in carisio in feb i think it was.its a lot different now to what we were used to back in the 80s.
Really pleased to see Truckerash is back on here, I can’t wait for him to open up his treasure chest of fantastic photo’s from the 70/80s.
Welcome back Ash.
That’s the bloke Archie, he used to do the A4 corridor with MRI machines
the climb up to mt blanc tunnel
Did you like that photo then Ron ?
Nice pictures of those trees, Not too keen on the arse end of the trailer though. When youve seen one, you’ve seen all three
Hi guys,
Congratulations to all who have helped make this possily the greatest thread ever! I have routed out & scanned a few pics that my dad took when he was on continental work (did some uk also), with me riding shotgun in the school holidays when I were a nipper! The Eddom 142 & R C Hart F12 on another post (trucknetuk.com/phpBB2/viewtopic. … 981#391981)(not-so Trucking in the 80’s) are courtesy of Eurowheels, however Bob did drive these - & I’ve kipped on usually the top bunks!
Regards, & thanks again, Chris
This hitler’s revenge was superceeded by a twin steer F10, which he hated (well, the twin steer aspect anyhow)!
This Fiat was ran out of Stoke on Trent, carrying wool bales to Barcelona, & groupage on return. It had a sticking starter, and I had the dubious honour of keying it over when on the flat whilst the old man was under the front end with a hammer!
Mitchell Cotts ran about x7 of these 7.5 tonners out of their Penkridge deport on the Magnet & Southerns contract. The cabs on these had a supprising amount of room.
Credit as above to eurowheels for this shot - was so lucky to find it! Dad ran B261 YCK before this, and then went on to run a 3600 SpaceCab, and a low roofed 6x2 3300 in the same colours for Eddoms. Well tidy motors, would love to find a 142 or space cab as a resto project.
Downings Watse Paper ran x5 or x6 brand new 95 350’s, I think x2 on E-plates, the others on F plates - all plain white with blue tilts (as commom as Citroen Picaso’s back in those days!) shipping waste baled card to Graz at Mayer Melanhoff’s mill, returning card reems for packaging. Mr Downing later downsized & bought the Iveco 190 36.
Chris,
Great photos, Forgot all about Downings doing Austria with them Iveco’s used to se them a lot.
Regards
Ant

ZULU1512: thanks for your comments. You are half right mate. Pat did have a Volvo. But not the one in question. His was an old 240 on a N plate, in blue. He did have an xtension, but not up, just back.
Cant beleive no one knows who had these two trucks
They are SO distinctive. Oh well, keep tryin…

Here is a photo of Pat’s Volvo parked next to my M.A.N. This was taken in Romania about 15 years back,.
I was with Pat two weeks ago & he still has the Volvo, although he is not working it.
He is driving a F reg Seddon Atki 8 wheel tipper in the Lancashire area, same colour as the Volvo ( I think he must have got the Paint cheap.
Dave.
