I’ve used the coach park in Torquay this year, but there’s zero facilities. And I’m not sure if we just make the numbers up during the off-season. There was a post on here a while back, where some lad had tried to use it, but all the lorry pictures had been sprayed over on the signs leading up to it. He ended up going somewhere else as I recall.
How about the lorry park in sunny Weston on Francis fox road, follow town centre signs till you come the bridge over the railway, turn right at the island up over the train tracks right at the mini island into it.
Not sure how much but the last 3 times I been to Weston in the last 6 weeks there’s trucks parked there.
As mentioned, Caenby Corner is still up and running. £15 on Snap Acc including a £5 meal voucher, and unlike most places you can actually get a meal there for a fiver.
I tried to go to J26 one night at 18:30 and it has the barriers across the entrance as it was full and there was atleast 10 foreign trucks in a queue down the road starting from the truck stop entrance, all with hazard lights probably working out where to try next.
So unless it’s 3-4pm I wouldn’t bother with it!
Kate’s cabin I’ve not been to but see it well used frequently

Oakdene still open but limited parking. Thursday nights a bit of a problem as it’s a motorcycle meet place and gets totally rammed with them
Are you sure■■? My mate knowing this was a massive favourite of mine when I was on the road told me only this week that it has closed down.
Kates Cabin is still alive and kicking

It’s my preferred stop in that area.
And unlike a lot of places, you get the meal voucher when using Snap I use it when I’m on that route
Its an interesting question, OP. I must admit, I’ve been idly wondering if having a truck stop is still a viable business option. Assuming you are near a main trunk route/port, it can’t really be rocket science to get the business formula right, surely?
But why would you bother, when if you spend £20,000 on bricks and plasterboard, and £10,000 on labour, you could build a house on a truck parking space and sell it for £250,000?

That’s the problem Harry. Land is more valuable for houses than for us to park on. Still waiting to see what is going to happen at Orwell. Parking around there is like rocking horse poop.

You missed the 10k needed for planning bribes Harry!
But seriously, it’s apparently normally loosly based on thirds with house building.
1/3 land purchase
1/3 Build cost
1/3 Profit

Or worse somebody does that to the land next door to your truckstop or old time cafe that’s been there forever, then the new residents get loads of restrictions on your business to stop those noisy smelly trucks and there dirty smelly drivers disturbing their peaceful existence.
