not worried about your credentials at all, because you dont have any!!
does your traffic wardens hat have a yellow band round it?

Yes, I really do not believe for a New York minute that he is a serving Traffic Police officer, he would not dream of making the posts he has if he was, media awareness and the need for discretion are part of Police training.

Possibly a PCSO, but far for likely somebody somebody who isn’t employed in any type of law enforcement job at all, possibly a security guard.

hahaha -or someone that isn’t employed in any type of job at all…
if you are are a real copper why dont you ■■■■ off and join a forum for old bill? because they’ll suss you out straightaway you sad little man.

Strange that, but I do have an account on a police forum.

nobody cares-■■■■ off and post on "a police forum " then.

If its alright with you, I’m quite happy posting here.

what “police forum” do you post on then as you stated above?

Contraflow:
Officer, can I see some identification please? I have some concerns about your authenticity.

like i said,traffic warden…

RoadsRat - The “less than 1 percent” figure you so tenaciously cling to appears to be based solely on successful convictions, therefore cannot be cited as an accurate figure of the percentage of less-than-squeaky-clean officers. I think a fair number of the general public would find it hard to swallow that for every say, 10,000 coppers, less than a hundred were abusing their position in some way.

Whilst I have little doubt that the greater proportion of serving officers strive to do what can frequently be a difficult and challenging job with integrity, I think your faith in the numbers may be just a little partisan!

The issue isnt whether 1500 have been convicted - Its how many aren`t even known about. Whatever I say, or however it comes across, I generally (but not unconditionally) support the boys and girls in blue.

Respect to you for persevering in spite of some of the taunting! (which has got a little childish, tbh)
Somewhat cavalier of you though to state a percentage of “wrongdoing” within the force that cannot possibly be authoritative or verifiable.
Wrongdoing by its very nature is kept carefully hidden, and statistics can only be compiled on known and discovered offences. How much nefarious activity is continually occurring that goes undiscovered? Exactly - nobody knows. As you quite rightly say, there are bad apples in all professions, but Ive never heard any member on here attempt a guess regarding the percentage of rogue drivers within the industry.

No animosity intended, but you have to be soooo very careful what you spout on here - especially if it cannot be comprehensively supported. Maoster makes a very good point (as usual), and I too would prefer to see a more harmonious and constructive dialogue with you guys.

Good post.

I find it difficult to believe that more than 1500 officers per year are convicted of criminal offences. The Daily Mail would be all over it if it was that high!

I’ve taken the liberty of researching for a figure via google.

In the past 3 years, 179 crimes have been committed by police officers (figures from 31 out of the 46 police forces) - independent.co.uk/news/uk/cr … 65376.html

In Scotland, 120 officers have committed crime offences - dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scott … ce-2990278

This comes to nowhere near the 1500 officers I mentioned, so it is indeed less than 1%?

Happy to debate it further.

The problem with those figures is that fifteen forces provided no figures, which is thousands of officers! Not very accurate.

I don’t understand why you think the number should be so much higher? What is it about police officers that means they commit more crimes that other professions?

If there are 179 from 31 forces, there’s unlikely to be 1321 crimes from the remaining 15 forces? (179+1321=1500=1%).

How come, Einstein?

as a policeman, your role is to serve and protect the public…not engage in ■■■ for tat slanging matches with a load of lorry drivers on a public forum.
in your official capacity, you should remain impartial, neutral and unbiased…not letting your personal opinions cometo the fore in any situation.
in light of the recent bad press directed at policeforces across the land,i`ll bet top brass would be highly delighted with your behaviour on here(unprofessional to say the least)
a smarter move(in your case)may have been to keep your proffesion under wraps,if indeed, you are what you say you are…and not just some weirdo troll, getting the horn by winding a load of lorry drivers up.

think on

I have remained “impartial, neutral and unbiased”.

Perhaps truck drivers should take a long look at how they treat others? I’m sure that the abuse directed at me (from 2-3 buffoons) shows truck drivers in an excellent light?

No wonder people have such little regard for truck drivers.

you mean SOME truck drivers…it only takes a few bad apples etc…you,of all people should be aware of that :bulb:

But he’s not at work nor has he said he’s here representing the police force’s views. Why just because he should be impartial at work should he also remain impartial in his private life? Discussion and different views are what make these forums work. It would be dull here if we all had to be impartial with the same opinion as each other.
Without wanting to sound like Albion, maybe he’s had plenty of run ins with the type of driver that shouldn’t be driving (let’s face it, he’s less likely to need a chat with those doing the job properly) just because 90% of the drivers he has to deal with are reckless, doesn’t mean we all are. Just the same as police officers, there’s plenty of drivers who carry out their duties without the need to come to anyone’s attention.

wether he likes it or not…because he has identified himself as a policeman,he now represents the policeforce.
as I said before…given his penchant for infamatory remarks,he may have been better off posting incognito

He didn’t identify himself as a police officer. Members (including me) have assumed it because of his user name and his knowledge on police related subjects.

ok lets ask him…roadsrat, are you a policeman

in fact, lets go one step further…name and number.
if you believe your conduct is appropriate, you won`t mind your bosses being able to identify you…will you

[quote=“RoadsRat” No wonder people have such little regard for truck drivers.[/quote]
no wonder people have such little regard for the police if people like you are in it…
sorry,i keep forgetting you’re a traffic warden though…
