Truck stopped on M25 and driver suspected to be stoned

Just to demonstrate the intelligence level of the average police officer, here we have a picture of one such specimen driving past a speed camera at nearly twice the speed limit with both hands off of the steering wheel, not once but twice, within the space of an hour.

This cretin was later banned from driving, but for some bizarre reason wasn’t sacked. Perhaps RoadsRat could explain why not?

RoadsRat mentioned pupil size, but this isn’t a full proof test as if the driver is outside in the sun, the pupils will constrict. Also some legal medications cause pupil constriction.

I don’t suppose a lot of coppers realise that though.

Limy phil mentioned his relative suffering from a stroke; the problem is that police are making assumptions about gait and balance and manual dexterity when the only person who can really asses these things accurately is a doctor or physiotherapist. I know these aren’t available roadside ( ) therefore perhaps these test shouldn’t be being done at all?

Also undiagnosed sleep apnoea and diabetes could easily cause you to drift across the road, and fail a roadside test. You need a dr not a copper in those instances!

When you joining up?

Soon after you do…:smiley::mrgreen:

You’d best get your application in now then.

Being a po-lice officer isn’t difficult now is it, all you need is the personality of a complete bell end & the job is yours…!

and to have been bullied at school, with a small ■■■■■ :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

The stupid behaviour of one officer doesn’t “demonstrate the intelligence level of the average police officer”.

How can I comment on why he wasn’t sacked? I wasn’t involved in his disciplinary.

Actually, drug use can cause the appearance of bloodshot eyes, widely dilated pupils or pin-point pupils. Examination involves the checking of the driver’s eye pupil size, condition and reaction to light.

I have already said in this discussion that the tests aren’t scientific but do provide a good indicator. This is why a doctor takes a blood sample.

By the end of the year, you’ll see police officers equipped with drug testing devices. Best start thinking up some new excuses now.

How about…I was at a party last night, and although I don’t personally take drugs, other people were openly smoking pot, which I inadvertently inhaled.

Or…I visited a friend last night and was offered a rather delicious looking hash brown, which I accepted with a cup of tea.
it was’nt until I began to feel strange, that my friend admitted the hash browns had been"spiced up a little bit"
I left immediately, and vowed never to return…but I feel traces of the drug may still be in my system.

You still drove while you knowingly had drugs in your system?

Something definitely needs to be done about druggies who are supposed to be “professional”

A disgraced Metropolitan Police officer who grew cannabis in his loft at the same time as tackling the London riots walked free from court today.

Pc David Price’s distinguished career lies in tatters as he faces dismissal from the Metropolitan Police following his conviction.

A corrupt detective who stole enormous amounts of seized drugs and conspired to sell them back on to the streets with his brother, earning them at least £600,000, has been jailed for 23 years.

Detective Constable Nicholas McFadden of West Yorkshire police, 38, took more than £1m of heroin, cocaine and cannabis by exploiting “slack” procedures while working at secret evidence stores.

This has no relevance. Is your business empire going through a quiet spell Harry?

The number of officers involved in wrongdoing is less than 1%.

■■■■ this seems to have gotten off track a bit, also it’s falling into the Tokers/non-Tokers fight. All Tokers don’t see a problem as “it’s not as bad as drink driving” however being a former Toker I have to put it out there, 1 joint of decent smoke will put you in the same bracket as a few pints consumed. Of course this will differ person to person as a general rule of thumb I’d have to say this is the case. There is no place for DUI of any case. If you want to blaze up once you are in your bunk or you are home, sh*t I’ll give you box of matches to get you started, I stopped smoking because I wanted to drive and the two DO NOT mix imo (and that of the fuzz  sorry Rat)

Oh, I do apologise, I inferred from your posts that we were making generalisations about an entire profession based on the actions of one or two people. :unamused: :unamused:

It’s from my own calculations. There are about 149k officers in England, Wales and Scotland.

1% of 149k is about 1500. Can’t say I read or hear about 1500 officers a year being charged with criminal offences?

Do you have official proof to the contrary?

If it was days ago, it’s likely there’d be little trace of it left in your system…unless you are a heavy user.

Highway code will tell you any drink or drugs may be tracable for upto 48hr in your system. Drugs stay in your system longer. 1 splif is tracable for upto 3 wks via hair samples.
