Hi, I posted earlier about a trip to Prague with a 7.5 ton truck, well its going to be an 18 ton truck now for an event in Prague the Tuesday after the bank holiday, so I plan to travel so as to get to Prague just before the Thursday night ban but that means I will have 4 night wait until the others turn up and I can get in the Hotel, so the question is can anybody suggest a good stop for that period, close to Prague say within a hour or so, I know i’ll get a good response from you Guy’s so thanks.
Can’t think of anywhere decent. There is 1 on the old rd just before pilzen it’s open weekends but it ain’t all that good. There is 1 south of Prague can’t remember junction but it’s about 3 exits down, very small & I don’t think it’s open weekends.
Personally I’d stop at either geisilwind Germany about 4 hrs away. Or at the brdr itself. Great bar upstairs , cheap beer always got footie on.
Obviously Prague itself would be great but cannot think of anywhere to recommend for parking. Sorry.
I too recommend stopping on The German side.
Well I will have to find somewhere to park the truck whilst in Prague when the event is running so I’ll let everyone know what I find,
on another point I will need to stop around Cologne on the way, how does the MAUT work when taking a 9 hour break, do you just book as far as the stop then book again for the rest of the run? what if the stop does not have a machine? any suggestions where to stop around cologne would be gratefully received, cheers Guy’s
The maut usually factors in a rest on long journeys, just check the finish time on screen before completing booking, you will need a rough idea when you will be exiting the tolled roads before using the machine, I have found them to be generous with the time allowed.
there’s a semi decent services just on the west side of the prague ring road, got a Mcdonalds, and a 24 hour garage, iirc, you can park right next to or on the forecourt, or right next to McD’s, in full view of the cameras, you can usually park trucks at the arena…I THINK, the adress for parking area is :ÄŒeskomoravská Äp. 2345/17, 190 93 Praha 9 Czech Republic
Thanks for the reply’s so far, all really usefull.
If you want to stay on the German side, i would recommend Erlangen.
Cant you park at the hotel where the event is?
I think that is a possibility but as I arrive 3 to 4 day’s before the event I will have to check, when the event is on there may be parking in place but hotels in city’s and trucks, even though its a 4 wheeler don’t mix well.
What hotel is it?
Hilton, not the old town one,

Hilton, not the old town one,
Went there for an exhibition a couple of years ago and they let me park up inside for 5 days.
That sounds good, I wonder if they will let me park up over Easter, I’ll get on to that, if not I think I will stop in Germany and run in Tuesday morning.
I usually use the Truckstop just South of Pilsen Slovice on the E50/D5 as it has all the facilities there and friendly staff together with AS24/Total/Eurotraffic fuel.
That is interesting Puddlejumper, just about where I want to stop, do they have showers as my stop will be for about 4 day’s,
Yes all facilities Shop,Showers,Restaurant and of course free parking.
It’s not a truckstop it’s a service station. It’s absolutely fine too but 4 days ■■ That would drive me mental. Your choice I suppose.
Not an ideal choice I will give you that Turnip, If the hotel will let me park there before the crew arrive then happy day’s, if not where would you suggest, being the Easter weekend and the need to be in Prague early Tuesday,

Depends on what youre looking to do for 4 days
Park for free on a sevice station in Cz where food and drink is cheaper, or pay to park in an Autohof in D(the cost of the parking covers your meals)
Erlangen is handy because its situated in the town and a short hop to Prague.
Thanks for that info, do you have the address or is it signed from the Autoroute,
