How been times has this happened, im quite a heavy sleeper so would like to think i’d wake up early enough to get out? This is something i think about from time to time, probably doesnt happen but i’m quite a paranoid person, i also believe the cab phone is bugged, so they can hear what your saying if the phone is near you.
I think (some) Volvo sleeper cabs have a smoke alarm as standard.
If not, you could buy one. They are cheap enough.
Grimsby 2003 was one occasion
The appalling fire that killed truck driver Derek Bailey has prompted his family to call for all sleeper cabs to be fitted with smoke detectors. He had parked up for the night in the delivery yard on June 25, 2003 year when an arsonist set fire to waste plastic and pallets near his front tyre. The man responsible for his manslaughter, Darren Wringe of Grimsby, England, had never previously met Derek Bailey. Bailey’s family said they wanted to thank not just police and Grimsby residents but also drivers who had passed on messages of support, especially South West Truckers.
This merc I am in has one fitted as standard, gaffer actually has “fire alarm batteries” listed as one of the tick boxes on the daily check sheet. Needless to say the thing flashes regularly and beeps. Still could save my life, so I live with it.

I’m with you on the cab phone I covered the whole of the inside of my cab with tin foil to stop this. Must be shiny side facing in to the cab though as it won’t work otherwise.

I just wrapped my fone in old kitkat wrappers , it took about 600 so was quite expensive and now I have a bad tooth ache but it seems to work.

The company you work for , which I wont name for fear of being threatened by legal action again, is well known in the area for fitting bugs on cab phones , some of the later Scanias even have a pin hole camera hidden inside the cab.

It s called a education Kev , even Peckham modern secondary school had maps didnt they , or were they all knock off Del Boy rejects
