The best way to combat that is to replace all the interior light bulbs with Pink ones and that reflects a certain type of light into the camera and makes it impossible for them to see you.

Grimsby 2003 was one occasionThe appalling fire that killed truck driver Derek Bailey has prompted his family to call for all sleeper cabs to be fitted with smoke detectors. He had parked up for the night in the delivery yard on June 25, 2003 year when an arsonist set fire to waste plastic and pallets near his front tyre. The man responsible for his manslaughter, Darren Wringe of Grimsby, England, had never previously met Derek Bailey. Bailey’s family said they wanted to thank not just police and Grimsby residents but also drivers who had passed on messages of support, especially South West Truckers.
just moved back to grimsby last weekend. went in to homebase, where this happened, and 9yr’s later the scorch mark’s from the fire are still there, and every time i see them, it make’s me shudder in fear due to what this ■■■■■■■■ did.
i do also remember that me, my sister, and my dad, (mercenary). used to go there every year to lay some flower’s out for the family, from trucknetuk.

How been times has this happened, im quite a heavy sleeper so would like to think i’d wake up early enough to get out? This is something i think about from time to time, probably doesnt happen but i’m quite a paranoid person, i also believe the cab phone is bugged, so they can hear what your saying if the phone is near you.

Getting back on topic , a lad from Rosiers Harlow depot was asleep a few years ago when his Scania was set fire to on a retail park at night.
Memory not so sharp anymore so I cannot remember who and where, but there must be a few more similar cases about.

I think (some) Volvo sleeper cabs have a smoke alarm as standard. If not, you could buy one. They are cheap enough.
I have one in mine should get a battery really. What about the phone?
C10HOO does ■■■ smoke set it off?
If you are worried about your cab catching fire, then it’s probably best not to smoke in it.
But IIRC the Volvo alarm could be disarmed for 15 minutes so drivers could top up on airborne carcinogens if they felt they hadn’t inhaled enough in the form of exhaust fumes during the day.
let’s say a driver notices a fire very close to his cab, or sees someone trying to set the lorry on fire.
how many drivers would let the lorry burn rather than interrupt a 9 hour rest period?
sounds daft. but from some comments i’ve seen on this site over the years, i wouldn’t rule it out.
My father in law , many years ago was parked in a layby somewhere near Durham… he got woken up one night by the police banging frantically on his door and shouting get out driver, somebody had set fire to the back end of his trailer… he was loaded with carpet underlay so you can imagine how good that fire was.
The smoke alarms fitted in most trucks don’t seem very loud either, ( i know the volume ramps up after a few seconds ) therefore I would be inclined to fit an ordinary one from a diy store, they cost less than a fiver… and once you have it fitted, test it weekly and replace the battery once a year, (set a date such as new year, new battery).
■■■ smoke doesn’t set off the ones we have in the house, but the toaster does… so don’t start making toast in the cab… that is all…

I think you’d be OK so long as you took a printout first and wrote on the back exactly why you had resumed work partway through a daily rest period. Details such as location of fire, wind direction etc would doubtless assist VOSA in their investigation.
Personally I’d just leave the card out if I needed to move the unit away from the fire and say it was the shunter who drove those 200 metres.
The chances of it happening are slim to none, apart from the few mentioned on here I’m not sure it’s an issue, one of those “when it’s your time, it’s your time” kind of deals really
Phone bugging, that’s never happened to me and I’m totally sure of that, if any employer had ever heard the stuff I say to myself/shout at other motorists, I wouldn’t last longer than the first day
Is some one having a wind up…tin foil lining the cab…kit kat wrappers around the phone…cab bugged…what planet are you guys on…either your paranoid, or you`ve been watching too many james bond films while parked up…

Some of its obviously a wind up but i am slightly paranoid. The phone on its own is fine, its when they have one of those holders that you slot the phone in and then through some kind of witchcraft when someone calls their voice comes out of the steoro speakers, thats how i reckon they bug them, so never leave the phone plugged in just in case. Them motion sensors you see in the top corners of the ceilings in offices, im pretty sure some of them are disguised cameras. Ever heard the saying, “the walls have ears”?
