Make cyclists pass a test that they have to pay for and then afterwards PAY ROAD TAX to use the road
Slackbladder:
Hello, push bike ■■■■ here. If that’s what London village cyclists look like they deserve moving down, no lights, brakes, chain, hi viz, helmet, it’s just ridiculous. And look at the size of those windows! Any trucker worth his/ her salt would be far too busy to look out of them, it’s hard enough to indicate & flash other drivers in without all that extra looking stuff. No, as I always say, leave it to natural selection, it works every time. And let’s face it 113 or so deaths a year in london isn’t that many, is it? After all we have deadlines to keep.
You just making figures up to suit yourself?
‘‘Between 2010 and 2012, 40 cyclists were killed and there has been one fatality this year, Transport for London said.’’
The biggest killer is lorries turning left from a standstill. Why is it the biggest killer because cyclists go up the nearside when the vehicle is stationary, they are trusting that drivers sees them. Its a 2 way street matey, if people did not put themselves in the firing line half these deaths wouldn’t happen.
Boris Johnson is a cyclist and wants a truck ban, that subject is on another post.

But its their God given right to behave in a reckless manner and pull off these stupud manouvers that risk their life. They’re entitled and thats that. Mohammed and mountains spring to mind here.
Yep thats perfect, Just what I need, delivering to building sites all over London… Even less ground clearence… brilliant.

Spot on. I’m glad one of you cycle chappies can finally see sense and see it from our point of view. Good work, keep it up.
Forget the stupid designs. As most people have already said, seems a bit too much glass, probably ok for vehicles that just do town work though.
Didn’t the old Ford Cargo’s have long windows in the passenger door , I thought these were a good idea, why were they discontinued, (the window idea not the cargo.)
Saw this on a Firmin truck parked up in a transport cafe on the A1 , north of Peterborough
, start of a way to educate the cyclists … maybe

The best thing they can do in London is pedestrianise everything inside the M25.
We can tip at huge hubs on the outskirts,

Blimey anyone would think that no cyclist has ever managed to get themselves wiped out by a bus.

Cycling deaths in London: Campaigners in lorry redesign call - BBC News
if i wanted to drive something like that, i would go to the council for a job on the bins!
If that’s an artic, where does the engine go ■■
I would rather not see what I am crushing thank you very much, it can be disturbing all that blood and stuff
Women cyclists make up a far higher proportion of deaths involving lorries than men. Why?
Many of the fatalities involving cyclists happen in collisions with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV). This year, seven of the eight people killed by lorries in London have been women.
Considering that women make only 28% of the UK’s cycling journeys, this seems extremely high.
There are no national figures but there’s little reason to think it is any different. In August, a 27-year-old woman died in Leeds after her bike was in collision with a lorry.
These deaths could be attributed to a tragic anomaly, but some cycling campaigners are concerned whether there is something about how women cycle which puts them at greater risk from lorries.
“It’s something we’re trying to understand. When you look at HGV accidents there are a lot more women involved than you would expect. We don’t know why that is,” says Charlie Lloyd, from the London Cycling Campaign.

I think I can see the problem here.

Me too.
Oh yes and we have a winner, come on down wavyok, take a test and pay road tax, brilliant. After all all motorists take tests and they never break the road laws or kill anyone while driving. Again, road tax does not exist, it was abolished in 1927. It’s now based on vehicle emissions, my bike doesn’t have emissions other than bean or curry nights. There are over 2 million vehicles on the road currently that don’t pay any vehicle tax, in fact they take money out of the system because we still have to pay their admin costs, paperwork, tax disc etc. try having a pop at those before you come up with this tired old rubbish.

I think cyclist should have to take a CBT test including a HGV modual like forklift training where your shown gory videos if you go down the blind side of a truck or lerk near its back wheels and have insurance to use a public road like every other vehicle (apart from a horse but most of them are insured)
my bike doesn’t have emissions
No but you cause more emissions by making cars change speed quickly or brake sharpish from cyclist stupid actions
I don’t have anything against cyclists some are grand and understand how much space a HGV needs on the road and keep there distance I just dislike the ones who think there above any other road user on the road and the ones what film with there helmet cams shouting out reg details of anyone who looks at them funny and blame everyone else for there poor cycling
Why change a HGV’s windows wouldn’t it be cheaper for cyclist to understand space and blind spots of lorry’s and keep out of them I would suggest signs and cones around a truck at traffic lights and round about but been a cyclist you’ll just select which bits of the highway code apply to you and ignore them

Yeah right humans don’t breathe out loads of CO2 to add to the non existent problem of global warming especially when they’re trying to power a motor bike without an engine. If global warming really exists cyclists and runners etc would be as eco friendly as someone using an excercise bike or jogging in a U Boat that couldn’t surface for whatever reason would have been.
If a cyclist wants to get in my way he/she can argue with my bumper.
■■■■■■■■■■ the lot of them.
