Truck designed by cyclists

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-21875593

Harry, thats a lot of frilly curtains for someone, and at great expense, we all know the simple way is to ban cyclists from the roads.

Oh for ■■■■ sake ■■■■ off!!!
Just a bunch of chancers the lot of them!!!
Don’t ride up the inside of trucks, how is this hard to grasp!!!

I am a cyclist as well as a truck driver and looking at the situation “truck vs bike” from both sides of the fence I can comfortably say that it’s the cyclists that need education and training and they are the ones who need to change.

Looks like the front end of a bus to me and there’s been plenty of cyclists who’ve been wiped out by buses in London.

Meanwhile as if cab overs aren’t already enough of a compromise v conventionals in the case of a truck v truck crash they now want to make cab overs even weaker.IE low down driving position with mainly just glass between the driver and the accident. :unamused:

^ That’s probably the right answer in addition to getting them to ride on the pavement wherever possible. :bulb:

Dont worry. Our resident push bike ■■■■’s will be along soon to educate us to the contray and our subsequent non-conformation with their views will leave us to be nothing more than bigots and narrow minded etc etc etc…

Yes Carryfast I completely agree.
And let’s not forget that when traffic builds up, the idiots jump up the kerb and run on the pavement anyway!!!
They want it all their own way when it suits them.

Thank you cycling numpties, you’ve just re-invented the greenhouse. Anyone know where I can get cheap tomato plants?

It might be ok on londons streets, but i wouldn’t fancy taking that on the motorway when you wouldn’t be able to see over the cars to what’s going on ahead.

Brilliant Idea!..errr think not.

lowering the cab reduces visibilty in all other areas…so they can save 5 cycling numpties a year, and lose more than that when the poor drive unfortunatley ploughs up the back of a hi roof transit. Plus more glass reduces cab rigidity so even more unsafe…

Yet another idea designed around ‘health and safety’ for the few over pure common sense for the many.

Hope they would all have air conditioning. So hot in summer you would be able to grow tomatoes.

There not very imaginative. They seem to have drawn a picture if a Mercedes econic

At least the yobs will have a bigger target area to lob a brick through your windscreen from a bridge so not all bad.

No been there done that in the 1970’s long before ze Germans ever thought of the idea.Although in this case the cyclists would probably have got a bit upset about being overtaken by a 10 tonner with a 271 hp V6 Detroit two stroke in the back. Some say it was the fastest bus ever built. :smiling_imp:

'"We believe that drivers would particularly welcome increased visibility.

“However it must be remembered that there are lots of other considerations that impact on vehicle design.”

In other words bog off and leave it alone, till you know what you’re doing!

and judging by the replies here so far most drivers like the cabs as they are.

The best thing they can do in London is pedestrianise everything inside the M25.
We can tip at huge hubs on the outskirts, Then rickshaws and horsedrawn carriages can transport everything in.
That would suit the cyclists, the nimbys, the rail companies, and the lorrys drivers. It wouldn’t do much for anyone else when food and clothing rationing is introduced at the end of the first week, but they can’t have everything.

Typical, the cyclist in the picture cant even be arsed to wear a helmet. :-/

Hello, push bike ■■■■ here. If that’s what London village cyclists look like they deserve moving down, no lights, brakes, chain, hi viz, helmet, it’s just ridiculous. And look at the size of those windows! Any trucker worth his/ her salt would be far too busy to look out of them, it’s hard enough to indicate & flash other drivers in without all that extra looking stuff. No, as I always say, leave it to natural selection, it works every time. And let’s face it 113 or so deaths a year in london isn’t that many, is it? After all we have deadlines to keep.
