Forgetting essentials like stove, kettle, sat nav etc. Do you buy “bling” “truckers tat” etc.
Got a light bar on truck and spotlights paid for by the firm also polished alloys but I do the polishing!
Id never do it.if the company wants to so be it but a trucks a tool for a job and you dont see joiners adding crappy shiney things to there tool belt

+1
bought a few things for the inside, but there again I spend more time per year in it than I do my own house, so I do like to make it feel homely

Nope. I’ve got more important things to spend my money on than naff crap for my lorry.

no,nothing at all.a previous employer put a bank of spot lights on top of my Scanny, but because i switched them off and refused to flash him when he was coming towards me,he took them off
Yeah I’ve bought stuff for inside and I paid for all my LEDs because bloke who owns the lorry can’t work eBay but he paid me the money. I booked 2 hours for fitting them as well
I was toying with the idea of getting some mats, but iv`e gone off the idea now.
I believe that if my lorry needs it, my employers should pay for it.

I would agree with that, anything that’s on the outside he pays for, anything for my comfort I pay for, if you don’t tramp all week then I would understand why people think some of us are mad buying stuff for inside, but I see it no different than buying home comforts seeing as our cabs are our homes more than concrete and mortar, I do know some people that buy lights ect of the outside and I say each to their own, personally I won’t do it

I don’t count comforts like sleeping bags and microwaves as bling. Like in Commonrails’ link, tacky excrement like sticking horses on the door panels and drawing on your air tanks.

I have put different curtains in mine, they are thicker as keeps the cab warmer can’t do with running the night heater all night as makes my throat dry, and my own carpets as more comfortable than the rubber floor covering, but no painting on the air tanks lol

Pelmet with tassels as well?
It makes me laugh, i know drivers who spend a fortune on their motor to be stood all week not moving but think spending anything on the motor they live in is wrong! when i worked for a one man band i did put some bling on my truck at my expense, now i wouldn’t but i still want to make the place i spend most of my life comfortable and customised to my particular needs! if i leave i can take everything with me so what’s wrong with having a bit of pride in what you do?
I bought a leather steering wheel cover that you stitch on for mine as the scania steering wheels are so thin and I think it looks better and the mrs bought me some window decals for my birthday. I’d love some shinny bits for the outside but I wouldn’t pay for it. I spend a fair bit off money on polish dash board spray etc because I like to have a clean motor but I get the odd cash bonus throughout the year from the boss and always a nice wedge in an envelope for my Xmas box from him so I get the money back from that and some throughout the year. I don’t spend nights out but I spend more time sat in that seat than on my sofa so I want it to be clean and up together.
My wife bought me a chrome rubber duck hood ornament, which is still on my old truck at the moment, other than that I’ve not spent a penny. The trucks are all blinged up anyway, I got chrome surrounds for all the gauges and chrome toggle switches for the last one, but they paid. I won’t bother with my new one as it looks good without all that. I buy polish, but rarely use it, in any case they pay for it. The only stuff I buy regularly is window cleaner and I get reimbursed each month.
I don’t care if someone wants to spend their money on someone else’s motor, my own tastes sometimes wish they hadn’t spent so much
But each to his own and all that
Yes …
I pick up and drop off a trailer every night

Exactly… I suffer around this way from Blind Pugh and his mates, and their poncy roof lights, they can’t see you coming as their lights are so bright, and don’t dip until they have blinded you. Anyone who’s eyes are that bad needs to stay off the road, or get a golden lab blind dog to run in front of them, and show them the way. Modern truck lights are plenty good enough without all the extra one’s.
