I’ve noticed around Oxfordshire, that the one man band subbies who have all the bling, bird dropping window graphics etc moan about haulage rates more than the one man band operators who have no bling and run a plain looking lorry. The plain jane operators tend to’ve been in business longer, and don’t tear arse about.
I suppose pimping can be a double edged sword, on one hand it’s a good advert. On the other, would customers think “he’s making too much.”
I am customising mine at the moment. It is currently a dodgy grey but I am having it done in white with T-Cut. Other than that, if the boss want’s it bling, the boss pays for the bling.
Im not a fan of light bars and bling anyways but I would rather have the best looking basic highline than a V8 Topline with so many lights I have to refuse a pallet or two.
I bought one of those brown front door mats and cut it in to the shape of the steps to wipe my boots and a millwill sticker for the window.
I look after me motor and take a pride in doing so, and not a little devilment cos it upsets some of the tramps if you do look after your tackle, but thats it.
It’s a working vehicle, it needs maintaining well and clean for a good company image (foodstuffs)…and my silly pride, but as for sticking blinger equivalents of Halfords Tat for 17 Year Old Boy Racers, no thanks.

how do you feel about optional extras ian …I mean stuff made by the manufacturer.
e.g those new side skirts for skanias, look the bollox imo.then you can spec extra lights etc which look far better than the kelsa stuff…again imo
Surprisingly it doesn’t bother me what other people spend their money on! Who am I to judge others and the way they spend their hard earned cash? Personally I buy some things for my lorry, and the company buys some. Ive got two really nice spots to be fitted either side of the sunvisor Dutch style. But saying that my truck is pretty standard as it is. Frilly curtains and stacks aren’t my thing really. I take a pride in my vehicle, always have, and spend a lot of time looking after it. Where as many will get out of the thing as soon as they can and go home to their families. The only right way is the way that makes you happy, and driving about in a flagship makes me happy! #POWER

Depends how tasteful, proper side skirts look a lot better than odds and sods like rusting air tanks and pipes and dull battered fuel tanks, and inset lights in genuine mouldings usually look the part.
Its the bolt an aftermarket tat i can’t stand, tacky looking bling sticking out in front of the motor, first thing to get clobbered too, they are first and foremost a working vehicle, theres a world of difference between smart specced-up and boy racer bling with fairy lights by the dozen.
I bought some wet wipes a fortnight ago, and next week I may put one through the wash and then again I may not.
A clean and tidy motor free of damage and minus that crappy silicone smeg on the dash.
Why you would need an illuminated sign to remind you of the make of truck you drive is beyond me. 8/10 lorry drivers agree it looks silly, each to his own.
The worst bit of tat bar none has to be the cow catcher I saw fitted to a 10 year old over polished Swedish Bedford.
Or was it a handy fold down bed frame for al fresco nights out.
Somebody please post a picture of one.
The truck im driving has a top bar with 6 spots
a visor bar a low bar full perimiter kit stack exhaust and wheel trims all fitted by the boss
I keep it clean and tidy because i take pride in it to
But it works as hard as its not a show truck

I think we`re in agreement then.
specced is from the manufacturer…blinged is from cdc
Nail on head about CDC and bling. I’ll add All-Ride to that for supplying such useful and tasteful products like steering wheel knobs, fake leather steering wheel covers and various chrome junk.
As a side, I love my workmates’ attitude to his wagon. After I trained him, he was given a 12 plate MAN 8wheeler in “mingin’ condition.” He’s left it as it is saying “that’s the standard set, I’ll maintain it.”

I do agree with your mate in a way, the only problem with it is he’s bringing himself down to the same level as the minger that left the truck like it. I personally would have to clean it up if I had to spend all day in it, plus I wouldn’t want people that didn’t know to think I had got it in that state. Remember the new DAF I did my first couple of weeks on Smiths in, It may have been washed outside daily, but you wiped your feet on the way out of the cab
I remember that Daf John, if you remember it was always first back in the yard too. (Still is I think). You sat in my cab a few times so you know mine was never a tip, although what you said about it now has been confirmed by more than one Smiths driver.
Not one for bling but i do like to keep it as clean as practicly possible and a can of polish and some clothes and a bottle of glass cleaner is hardly going to break the bank.

Your truck on Smith’s was a credit to you mate, I will always be the first to say that, … so will you forget the fiver I owe you.

You got it right there mate, that’s all that’s needed.
Last week I added about an inch of mud. Doors this count as bling?

No that counts as sling…it comes up off your wheels.

I cut up a “cats whisker” mudflap I found laying around to do the same thing got enough for two motors out of it! as regards “bling” thanks but no thanks anonymity is the name of the game “I’ve never seen this lorry before mate” is the best compliment I can have! btw while back was talking to a driver delivering reebar to a site, told me “my boss is great he got the mechanic to fit my light bars for me but I had to pay for them”
