Triple fatality on London's North Circular

No manner of death is pleasant, although I can imagine few more terrifying than being in that situation, I can only hope it was quick for them. Sadly, knowing you’re a mistake away from death is part of the thrill, whatever the activity is. Sometimes the dice rolls against you.

My sympathies lie with the families of all those affected and those who had to witness the events, including the artic driver. The time of year shouldn’t matter but these few days have a habit of bringing things into perspective more. We can berate these lads but the fact is they’ve already paid the highest price possible, better perhaps to take stock and be thankful for ourselves and our own lived ones and empathise with those who have to endure such loss at this time. This goes for all, not just the victims in this accident.

Used to drive round the NCR every night when on tate and lylye and in the dead of the night it was like wacky racers, thursday night and saturday allways seemed the worst especcially midnight - 3 am

Very sad day, but given the idiots that use the North Circular, it doesn’t surprise me.

There are speed cameras all over the North Circular. I wonder why they didn’t save the lives of these folk? After all, we are constantly hearing the mantra that speed cameras save lives. Why didn’t they save these lives then…? :unamused:

speed cameras only detect people driving above the speed limit which may or may not be hazardous depending on many factors. They do not detect excessive speed for the conditions or poor driving standards which are the killers, not speeding itself

Glad to see the season of goodwill is alive on planet trucknet. No doubt every one heres first car was a brown mini metro and you never went over the speed limit.
Feel for the lorry driver and the victims familys

The drivers made the choice to race, the passengers didn’t have much option but to go along with that decision.

The lorry driver had no choice in the matter.

My feelings are for the lorry driver, the passengers loved ones and finally those left behind by the ‘racing’ driver. They have the deaths of not only their son but also his friends to cope with.

Vauxhall Victor ‘F’ series, about 20 years old when i bought it.no danger of racing anybody in that!

Not exactly a nice way to go and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone but all actions have consequences and the sooner people realise that roads aren’t a race track and the manner in which cars are driven improved we will unfortunately see more incidents like this. Car drivers need better education about the risk that they are willing to take

My sympathies to all concerned, regardless of the time of year, and my thoughts to the lorry driver. I hope it doesn’t cost you too many sleepless nights.

Incidently i had a blue mini and i think a few of its 38bhp had given up.
This was followed by a highly sensible for a 18 year old seira xr4i. Which i did at times drive like an idiot.
Now i drive a citroen c2 and have no intrest in driving like a nutcase. Its life people grow up well as long as there not one of the unlucky ones.

As sad as it is that 3 lads have lost their lives, how often do we drivers see boy racers whizzing around cutting people up trying to gain an extra 20 seconds? When I come across them my first thought usually is that 1 day they’re gonna kill someone. At least no innocent motorist or pedestrians died in this tragic incident. My sympathy goes to the Warburton driver who was out at silly o’clock trying to earn a living, hopefully he can square away what’s happened & get back to work ASAP.

Condolences to the families of the 3 lads, never a good time when something like this happens but, with it being the festive period & a time when families get together & generally have fun, it’s especially harrowing.

Has there been any mention of drugs or alcohol involved? However much you want to sympathise, this type of driving is selfish and totally inconsiderate to others on the road. Shame to say it, but this story will be fish and chip paper in a few days time, and it’s only a matter of time before some other young idiot will go out and do exactly the same.

That’ll take time to establish; Positive id will take time, judging from the car those inside were crushed and cremated.

It was the road that caused it-- quote from the Evening Standard:

Harry Frang, whose shop is next to the scene of the accident, said he had warned transport bosses that the road was a “death trap”.

He said: “I said to TfL before it’s a death trap they’ve made and everybody was telling me I’m crazy.”

What planet is Harry on?

Bernard

The Standard carrying reports that the drivers’ family say he made “one little mistake.” Understatement of the year. “Monumental mistake by driving like a ■■■■” is more apt.
Sorry but to crash and burn like that you make more than a “little mistake.” I can’t get the link to upload to the Standard but the victims appear to be of Asian origins; Is it just me that thinks “loud music, tinted windows, car bouncing up and down like wrestler Eddie Guerreros’ low rider?”

I shudder to think what speed he actually got up to to cause that kind of damage :frowning:
