If I had any heavy experience, I’de be camping on their doorstep, waiting for a job .
There might be a queue there now, Me at the front
Im trying to get my pictures sorted of some Hogsped trucks, Bob took loads when he was there.
Hope to hear a lot more about this trip from Jonboy@RH
hooray! i told you it was true!!
I never doubted you for a minute Jon,
todays message from rob, the convoy is over the uralls into central asia. the nearest town is st kathrinburg, he says its very remote and quite hard going. theyve been buying diesel from tankers at 16p a litre :open_mouth: :open_mouth: . just had a look at the acme kids atlas and i think its yekaterinburg he
s near. its quite a large city with 1.2million people just on the eastern side of the ural mountain range. i could be wrong of course! but i cant find st kathrinburg anywhere.
600km northeast of omsk today, 6 punctures over the last few days… its raining and the roads are just mud
novosibirsk area tonight, they had a busher on the doubledrive go near omsk, had to have it repaired at volvo. the roads have improved, he hopes to be at the drop by weds afternoon. 2 days to clear carnets(rob hopes!) tip by the weekend, then a fortnights drive home. rgds jon
i had a msg from rob at 0100 gmt this morning(good job i was at work!). it was 0800 siberian time! anyway, they`ve done all the customs business, tipped the loads, and were setting off for home this morning. he reckons its 7200km to the boat . should be a bit easier going on the homeward journey…no big lumps on the back!
Heyup Jonboy,i see people have started to take you seriously at last. Pity the trips on the homeward leg

Are we still doing the tourist route to Romania?
North sea ferries and the love boat
JONBOY@RH:
. the company hoggsped run out of I.M.R transports yard in nottingham, balloon wood i think its near beeston. dave hogg has been in the game for years and used to do saudi and beyond. its not general haulage as such and i suppose he has a lot of experience and contacts. i dont know the economics of the job or why there doing it and not eastern europeans. do you have a lot of experience in this field? i`m sure some of the long haul boys would have heard of the firm. rgds jon
Never doubted you for a moment JonBoy, I agree what an experience. If I was a bit younger I’d be on the doorstep too with my Econofreight reference.
But who is IMR? I know that Balloon Wood depot well. Used to be Marshal’s years ago and then Bob and Robert (can’t remember the firm’s name) took it over. Bob or Robert left and Mick Frost (who used to be Les Wilson’s TM) bought in. Sorry to go off thread, just trying to catch up!
Salut, David.
