What’s IOSH??

I would love to turn up at my employers and for him to come out of the office to see if my car was roadworthy enough for me to get there!
If it wasn’t would he have to send me home or fix it for me free of charge??
Please let it be the latter cos the bearings in the front to wheels need changing soon.
I would love it if it came out of his back pocket!!

Don’t think he has to pay for repairs but if he knows of problem he should send someone to pick you up

Don’t think many companies would pay for repairs if this is the case most would say stop at home without pay until your motor fixed!!! Didn’t realise companies could state whether a vehicle was fit for purpose or not thought that had to be done by legal profession. Anyhow if employees vehicle not fit for purpose rather than employer having to send someone out they could just tell you take bus or walk!! Sounds daft to me

our gaffer is known for being tight but if you had problems with your car he would tell you to take a van . mind you he needs to know his drivers are available as and when ,as he offers a 24hr service .

If I stop at home takes me 7 minutes if I stop at at our lasses 1 minute not even time for heater to warm up. Rather stop at home so I don’t get grunted at when the alarm goes off at some stupid hour

You win

I’ve never driven more than 30mins to work. I’ve always thought that it’s bad enough driving all day for a pittance without having to drive another couple of hours at my own expense.

Hiya Raymundo. Not seen you on here much lately. Still driving boats mate?
Used to enjoy your tales of life on the waves.
By the way back in the 90’s I knew a lad from up near Kyle of Lochalsh that drove for a firn in Southampton (& they rarely ran to Scotland either)

Hi Flip, see my post under ‘Is your firm busy’ :frowning: hoping someone comes along and buy the firm in question then yes I will be driving boats again, but sitting at home atm and quickly getting bored out of my skull :imp:

140 miles/ 3 to 3 1/2 hours depending on traffic.

Just read that Raymundo. Sorry to hear that too mate.
I may be wrong but I guess there aren’t too many open doors in that trade either?
My mate has just moved back up to The Granite City from Peterboro. Gone back on heavy haulage for Kennedy.
Don’t think there’s much up your way worth doing at the present either is there?. I nearly took the plunge last year for Harbro at Turriff but the Mrs got cold feet at the last minute otherwise we’d be living Elgin/Burghead area now.

42 miles 90 mins crap loads of speed cameras on my one and only route, it used be 30 mins 25 miles but them days went bang :open_mouth:

Flip, I foolishly let my license lapse July '12 and passing my medical might be a struggle and don’t fancy spending days or sometimes weeks rolling around like the proverbial turd in a ■■■■ pot by going back on the big stuff. So am literally torn between the devil (administrator) and the deep blue sea
Apologies to OP for going off track.

Lol!
Yes,apologies OP.
Understood anyway Raymundo.
All the best then mate and good luck.
Catch you on another thread somewhere in the future I hope.
More shipboard anecdotes etc needed.
