How long does it take you to travel to and from your home and depot. I reckon most of the jobs ive had involved a 45- 1 hour drive each way. Only asked as i phoned a job up today and he was suprised that i was prepared to do that drive each day. Just seems about normal to me.
3 1/2 minutes if I go the long way round 2 if I go my usual route
About 40 minutes. An hour and ten if I go on my bike.
Wouldn’t work for anyone that is more than 30 mins away
10 minutes In the morning tops and 15 minutes at night I don’t think I could wake up an hour earlier say 5 and then think I’ve hot an hours drive to get to work. I reckon I’d pull the duvet over my head and turn the alarm off.
15 minutes in the morning half hour in the evening.
If you are home every night traveling time will probaly be more of an issue than if you are away all week due to both time and cost.
bout 45 minutes each way, if the traffic is not too bad, and 3 .5 hours if walking
25 mins for me each way
10 mins each way.
Shift starts at 4am, I get up at 3.40 Quick wash, teeth, dressed & out. Have my brew in the canteen after clocking in.
21 miles to work, takes about 30 minutes up the M57 and M62 to arrive at 07.00 hs
On the way home its usually the same
Except for one time about a year ago when one of our wagons tipped over on the M62, it took 3 hours that night as I was half a mile behind him and well stuck in the aftermath (Driver was okay )
7 minutes in the early hours 15 if there’s traffic.
AA route finder reckons the quickest way if 18 minutes so I reckon my route is spot on.
In the real world it would count towards driving hours … strange how it doesn’t.
Oh and about 4 minutes unless the lights get me then it can be up to 10.
When I was “On the Buses” the depot was the bottom of my street, I played hell with one supervisor once who came knocking to see why I hadn’t turned up for work…and reminded him I was on a late
He paid me back though, he swapped my lates for the next couple of months for me
Hour an a half if I go over the bridge about 2hrs if I don’t.
Under Health and Safety regulations if you are called in early or on a day off you are on duty from the minute you set foot out your door so you need to be paid from then and incidentally your method of transport has to be legal and fit for purpose too and its the employers responsibility to check
I found this out when I did an IOSH course earlier this year
5min if I don’t get stopped at the lights, and I have to pass thro 3 sets .
About 1h30mis.84 miles door to door.
5 minutes both ways on the m6 or 10 if I go through Darlaston
Best is 5 minutes cycle, 10 minutes walk at the current job.
Worst was 86 miles to Cardiff, about 1 3/4 hours normally. (never again!)
Cheers
Paul
nice 15 minute walk , shake of cobwebs arrive in plenty of time
