Tramping work that doesn't involve London?

Yes it is

My mate does caravans and never ends up in London but he does end up going to everywhere on the coast and down some barely suitable for trucks roads with a 14ft wide static on.

I’ll take country lanes over london…anyday

It’s just all the restrictions and intense collections of knobs driving that frighten folk

It’s the fact that it takes 2.5 hours to get in,and 2.5 hours to get out that frightens me.
Total distance travelled…about 25 miles.

look for a job delivering bedding and feed for farm animals, but then you’ll probably end end delivering to one those City Farms.

I’ve never liked the prospect of London deliveries, but when I was actually there doing it it was never as bad as I thought it would be. Maybe you need to get into London and find out for yourself and treat what other drivers say with a pinch of salt.

If it takes you that long in and out, you’ve go in at rush hour, followed a knob of a route, taken all day to get tipped and come out at rush hour evening time and followed the same route out.

Oh right

I was happy enough in London in a 18T lorry in my food service days, but I don’t think I would be as keen in an artic now. Closest I have been in an artic is Twickenham

Baldy91:
I don’t know London at all so to me anywhere within the m25 I’d class as London lol

You’re asking for a multi page Carryfast essay on London boundaries saying stuff like that :grimacing:

London is great, spectacular amounts of leg and pert bottoms in the summer, the women ain’t bad either.

Cyclists are a non issue for bendy trucks as they are quicker than me anyway, just tickle her along and admire those firm ■■■■ cheeks wiggle as they thrust them muscly legs up and down on the pedals (I’m getting a flicker just typing this).

Other traffic, just let them get on with it, indicating well in advance will solve a lot of incorrect lane issues. By ‘in advance’ I mean how your supposed to do it not during or just after the manouvre which a lot of buggers do these days.

Also for those drivers who are a little sat nav reliant invest in a decent London A to Z, knowing where your going in case the sat nav throws a wobbler (which tends to happen just when you need it the most like all electrical items, well except vibrators that wobble a lot by design).

Where was I, oh yes A to Z’s very useful not only as a companion for the sat nav but if the routes memorised enough you can look at stuff and even learn about things like signs, landmarks other road users etc…

What about getting an old truck? So you can go in London?

I can no long enter thanks to no side rail protection

robroy:
I used to do London when there were about 10 truck parks there, knew it like back of my hand and had some great nights out there in the truck, but I aint too keen nowadays, although I don’t do it often at all now, but where tf do you park now if your time is up.?

On site , stopped White City ,Elephant & Castle , strand etc ,

I do a lot of London tramping, often spend all week in there , day shift trunks loads down for me to deliver ,doesnt really bother me now

Man up ffs it’s no different from anywhere just more busy.
Unless you are delivering to building sites it’s unlikely you will go to central London in an artic anyway.

Generally most central London general haulage work involves a lot of hi rise tower development building deliveries that involves the need for flat trailers hauling structural steel etc because it’s all overhead unloading. So yes avoid flats and it’ll be rarer if at all to need to go into the worst parts of the place. But if it’s flat work all bets are off ( been there done that  :imp:  ).

I’ve done multi drop on tramping in a 6x2 artic and standard triax curtain sider with a black and white A to Z. Various drops including one in knIghtsbridge rush hour, in heavy snow. It was a crap experience then. That was 2003 with just night lorry ban and less weight limits. Wouldn’t fancy it now Boris is there. Suprised I never got a ticket for anything.
