I semi tramp 2 nights ave a week bust still live with mother and older brother so makes no odds to me
I’ve done one night out in the past, for a company that wanted stuff delivered a distance away, first thing in the morning. Didn’t make me very keen on the idea, but I was really talking about full-time tramping.
The difference between one night out, and full tramping, is a state off mind, I would imagine, as its such along time since I done anything other than full tramping, that if you do one night out ocasionally, you do feel that you are being inconvenienced.
With full tramping, or a regular couple of nights out each week, you have things with you to make your life away more comfortable, and because you know that is what you signed up for, you accept it. Its the little things that can make a difference, such as going for a shower, your wash bag, that you use on a daily or regular basis, has the shower gel deodorant toothpaste razor in it, you have a fresh towel and flannel and a pair of flip flops, stuff like this gets lost or left at home if you don’t use them regular.

I was in army for a long time.
Left the Army and started tramping for 2 years.
I changed jobs in December so be home every night for the wife.
I lasted a few weeks and me wife told me I think your better of going back to tramping as your doing my head in been in house everyday lol.
I was so happy she said it first as she was doing my head in too.
So started back on tramping will be for the foreseeable future woohoo.
I think it depends what you as a family and couple are use too.
Apart from the Army thing, that sound so familiar, though the Mrs had stuck it for several months, the few times I tried not tramping, before a collective decision was made to go back tramping

My son is 5 in March and my daughter is 1 tomorrow. I only do days and I feel I’ve missed out on seeing them. I only get about 2 hours a worknight with them so I’m never applying for a tramping job. It would be almost impossible anyway as I’ve not got a class 1. I would like to but it’d be a waste of money at the moment.
My children are 18, 14 and 5, and yes I will concede that I’ve missed their childhoods, and cosy evenings with the Wife(the only 2 regrets I have about my work), but I don’t think that getting home late and rushing out early on day work, would have given Me a huge amount more time to spend with any of them. Though its each to their own, tramping has enabled My wife to stay at home(her choice) to raise the children, so possibly 100% of 1 parent, and 20% of the other, is better than 50 % from either parent. Just a thought, and a lifestyle choice
