good for you topmix, thats the way to go and then one day the companies may realise that we dont put up with [zb] from them, i would do the same. I can understand a company utilising their vehicles while a driver is resting, but to constantly keep moving drivers from their vehicles week in week out when they are employed as trampers is beyond me. I have lost many a good job because i wont put up with crap, and did recently when i complained about a smelly truck, but the company didnt understand what i was on about, office bods you see, and i certainly wouldnt put up with taking my stuff in and out every 5 minutes either, although i am semi retired, i still wont put up with [zb].
loads of jobs out there I won’t take any nonsense I got full DCPC told the agency shunted today at purfleet if he don’t wear gloves tomoro I ain’t taking cab till he’s got the grease off the bits I need to touch and also told management CLEAN IS THE WORD NOT GREASE IS THE WORD
its the guys on here that say ye no problem quick brush up no probs there the ones u don’t wanna be following into a unit .years ago no t.v. no entertainment . straight in the boozer .but things have moved on .some guys wanna watch bit of t.v. wheres the problem things r more comfortable now which is good for trampers/European guys.
I’m with op on this too. Cab hopping’s ok for day work, local stuff, but now you don’t have digs to sleep in, the cabs your house.
We’ve all seen some filthy bastrads on the road and I certainly wouldn’t be keen on following some of 'em in to a motor for nights out.
I s’pose we were better off years ago when all most of us had were day cabs, because we got the night out money for digs, even if we slept in the cab and used the local ‘wash and brush up’
ye seen some dirty cabs coke cans crisp pckts ■■■ ash plus the stink whyever these f…rs think people wanna smell there s…te is beyond me there the ones who put gloves on to drop trl then jump in and grab the wheel with gloves still on . then drive all day with there oily fu…ng hi vis on geuss im going into one here but u get the drift
u got it driver but if u like sleeping on some other smelly basta… matress theres loads out in yard don’t forget to tread all over matress and floor in ur oily big boy boots

Obviously Olog Hai and Maga are not drivers, but as so many on this board work in the offices, they might have been drivers in the past by not any more , otherwise they wouldn’t be posting such nonsense comments.
You can both, come any day to clean my cab, after the other one used it and I would challenge to have it done in 5 minutes, prepare yourself for 50 mins, and that’s if you are quick and like working hard to fit in that 50 mins.
This post was surely not directed at office management, but at other drivers, so why don’t you both simply jog off.
Nothing ■■■■■■ me off more than management posting here, pretending to be drivers.
Another angry driver who doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about.
That sounds like management talk to me
OK, and I’ll be concerned about your (incorrect) assumption because…?
I would not tramp if I didn’t have my own truck simple, how some drivers do I will never know it’s bad enough having a dirty cab on day work never mind been told to sleep in it
the maoster:
Exactly how are the company saving money or fully utilising their assets here? A tramper parks up somewhere on a night out, another driver comes and takes his three axle unit and replaces it with another three axle unit! Apart from it probably being illegal as the tramper has undoubtedly booked off all it has achieved is to ■■■■ the tramper off.
I’ve been told that Reed Bordall do this a lot, maybe Jonny Truckfest could shed some light on to the whys and wherefores.
I think what there on about is being brought back too there depot and going home for the night whilst there trucks being used ,or being pulled into any depot and being put up in digs ,hotel etc.
That what it says on our driver meeting memo, drivers being brought back to base ,and being put up in digs hotels and are not happy .
I’m a bit lost here… how can you be a tramper if you’re swapping vehicles every 5 mins? A tramper stays out away from base for weeks at a time without returning home■■?

British Driver: I’m not using that, I’m not doing that, I’m not starting that time, I’m not going there.
Foreign Agency Driver: ok boss.
And the result is…
Almost disagree
Awkward driver
good driver & part of the team
Funny thing is there seems to be more and more of the awkward ones
We had a guy turn up for a job, asked what vehicle he would be driving, I asked does it matter ?
Yes as I have seen you have an Iveco, oh right so you would prefer the Iveco then ?
No No No I aint working here if your going to make me drive one of them.
The Iveco has leather heated seats, a fridge a seriously comfy seat seems to have better suspension when off road
It seems that some drivers forget that it’s the boss that’s paid for the truck
ye m8 that’s what it is supposed to be but likes of maritime get u in the door then its take it or leave it .id rather take bit less money and be happy in dedicated truck once again drivers don’t stick together no disrespect newbees don’t know any better .gd luck
truckyboy:
Yes seth, then you should know better as you have seen both sides of the coin, i too look at that, but if a company want a driver as a tramper, then give him his own truck, hes a lot happier, will work a lot better, and will also look at it as a tool to earn the company money and himself, you as an office bod, i wouldnt work for you if you paid me 100 grand a week, you have an anti driver attitude and know F/A as a transport operator or how to treat drivers.
Chill out truckyboy ,i dont agree with it at all ,its just how the offce bods look at it,i havent worked in the office for a long time, dont you read posts before you stick your mouth in gear

I did two weeks casual work for my old boss not so long back. I had the same vehicle and was away for the two weeks. It took me 1hr 40mins to get the cab clean enough, so I was happy ho put my kit inside if it Now I’m a finicky zb when it comes to keeping my cab clean, more finicky than most. Some might say I have a touch of OCD, and I’d probably agree Most people probably would have stopped before 1hr40. I didn’t mind as this is only an occasional occurrence. But I would not be doing this on a weekly basis. My OCD would go into overload!!
treat the truck as if were my own, when off for a week or two no one drives it company has loads of spare trucks but all ask for mine coz its clean 25 bin bags of stuff came out of 1 guys truck then pro valet and new seat base coz he was on long term sick leave no one would drive it and hes not only guy I wont move some of our units with out my work gloves on would you let a tradesman climb all over your furniture at home or mechanic make a mess in your car and yes I know the truck belongs to the boss and not me but how would you like to see you £100k unit being kept clean and tidy or like a ■■■■ house
I was talking to a volvo fitter once and he said that if you give a motor to one driver ,or two drivers if its shift work ,it will save thousands in defects and damage the lorry wont occur, and in when it comes to sell it will go first and bring alot more money ,its alot of messing for the office to change number plates on runs etc to keep the same man and unit but it pays off.,its the same with the blokes who have the same trailers ,you can tell straight away because of no damage.
