how long you do tramping job??i talk to one driver.he said ready 12 years.was no sick.just standart holiday.

29 years. God that’s too long. :blush:

This time 10 months so far, spoke to an owner driver yesterday in westbury that had been tramping for 50 years! Said he can’t retire at 67 as he wouldn’t know what to do bless him.

Lived in a lorry full time 8 years this month. For some crazy reason I still love it. Maybe tomorrow I’ll wanna settle down, until tomorrow I’ll just keep moving on… :smiley:

28 years, although not continuously, I’ve had a couple of spells away doing non driving jobs, or being out of work. Probably going to do one more year and then go down to working six months a year, although that will still be tramping.

Since 1990 as an owner driver dodging Customs check points running on Cherry at 12 p a litre back then with 1500litre tanks on the truck.
Getting paid £2200 for a round trip to Gibraltar.
Weekend on the beach.In the brothel for a leg over.
Camaradie with fellow drivers.
The charcacters i knew from “Jelly Legs” to the " Animal" who hit a broken down coach.
He was on the way to Morocco.

Thanks Luke for your kind compliment.Did i tell you about the time i was riding my mountain bike down a steep hill in the Basque country in Spain.
I skidded on a pile of goat or sheep ■■■ and lost control.
I hit the tarmac with my shoulder.
It took a year and a half to get rid of the pain.
Acupuncture cured it.The brain was still sending duff signals that something was wrong.
The needles blocked the signals.
I was on a 45min tacho break and could not drive the truck safely with one arm.

i packed up tramping after 7 years and took a home every night job , the wife threatened to divorce me cos i was under her feet all the time .

2 months… I still feel guilty that i get to spend so much peaceful time on me own, in a nice comfy bed + all mod cons cab, very little stress and the wife is so happy to see me on weekends that i get me leg over more now than I have in the last 20 years and thats without counting ■■■ with meself during the week…

edit: I may be a bit cab happy at the moment :wink:

Four years tramping for me now - would I change it - no for some reason I really like what I do. The jobs as good as you make it and I make it enjoyable.
