Hi there… another newbie here with my first of many questions…
I’m looking into taking my LGV Cat C in 2011. Been doing some research and I’m thinking of possibly going with either Neil Codd, or Peter Smythe. I see that Peter Smythe gets some good reviews on here, but has anyone used Neil Codd? Any other decent trainers in Notts?
Hi mate. Can’t resist replying. Can I just point out that we are the ONLY accredited trainers in Notts and the ONLY trainers in the Midlands with their own test centre (also the 1st in the UK).
Best thing is to visit Neil and us. Then make your mind up.
Coffee on. Look forward to seeing you. (Closed till 4th Jan).
If you do go with Peter I know he will do everything form booking your medical theory to training
When did you pass your car test as this may have a bearing on a few things as you may have grandfather rights on the dcpc or you may have to do the initial

Have you just put your prices up? I’m sure when I was looking about a week ago your C or D course was £1,000 but now £1,200
Am I wrong?

Yes - but it’s not as bad as it seems. For as long as I can remember we’ve quoted course prices including VAT but excluding driving test fees. We’ve now incorporated the test fee into the quoted price - so this is even more transparent. It’s long been my view that it’s best to be straight forward with folk rather than try and give a low price but then +++++ to arrive at the actual cost. So now, £1200 includes the training, test, VAT free use of vehicle for a retest if needed, fully qualified, DSA reg instructors, accredited training centre, new purpose built training vehicles, the 1st private driving test centre in the entire UK etc etc etc. So, all in all, really good value.
If your’e quick enough, and you probably are, you will realise that the old price of £1000 + test comes to less than the current £1200. Two reasons for this: VAT increase and a small increase in training fees due to our ever increasing costs (just look at the price of fuel - if you dare!!!).
And there’s still the promise - - if you can find another trainer offering the same as us, I’ll GIVE you the course FREE OF CHARGE.
Hope this helps.

(I’m aware that the VAT increase applies from Jan 4th. We’re now closed until then which is why the website was updated last night. However, anyone who rings my mobile 07906 501120 and books and pays before 4th Jan will get the old rate. Can’t be any fairer than that surely?)

Ok mate I thought it was quite a hike but when you explain why it makes sense
Thinking of doing D training maybe later in the Year so would like to give you a visit some time.
The most common question people ask when enquiring about HGV entitlement is ‘how much will this cost me?’ Price should always be a concern but not the most important factor. Using a training company that runs well maintained vehicles and employs qualified DSA Instructors should be the first question any wannabe HGV Driver asks.

But also can you get me to standard & pass 1st time

Happy to say YES for the vast majority. There will always be folk who need another attempt normally because nerves have got to them on the day. There is also a tiny percentage who will never pass the test and are simply misguided in their ambitions.
