Is there not an emergency release handle inside fridge containers? I don’t recall seeing one. I think that they have to have them in cold room/stores.

It’s not a container, it’s a refrigerated trailer and someone locked the doors from the outside after being paid to do so by the occupants of it.

When I was a baker years ago the deep freezers had a handle on the inside. Some idiots thought it was clever to switch the light off when others were working inside. Cant legislate for dumb.
Unless you are carrying steel plate on the floor below the hanging beef, the trailer will be reversed up to a loading bay, the doors are only closed when the trailer is loaded/tipped. No need for anyone to be inside the trailer at any other time unless you are clandestine.

Yup, there’s usually at least one Darwin award contender on the scene when people get hurt or killed, whether it was deliberate or an alleged accident due to half wit action.

no way to open doors from inside there is usually a breather hatch /about 4x10 inches positioned on rear door also front of trl usually just pulled open from outside but can be forced from inside also theres 2 water/breather pipes on floor at back of trl

When I worked for Culina all the refridgerated trailors coming into Purfleet were unacompanied.
And the newer trailors also had a second set of fridge controls inside.
Feel free to correct me if Iam wrong, but isn’t it a driver’s responsibility to check vehicle and load is suitable for the public highway.
Bonus points awarded to the first numpty who says “you can’t always check your load because of a seal”

As for checking the load? Does everyone get into there trailer and drag themselves the full length and back to check their load, I don’t think so

There are handles on the inside of the doors, lol. Won’t work if they’re barred/locked on the outside, obviously. Or maybe they were only present on the shutter type doors? Not sure tbh, been a while since I drove a fridge. If they really wanted to, they could’ve grabbed 1 guy and used him as a battering ram to force their way out, though. Just saying. I find it hard to believe all 39 of them perished at the exact same time.
They most likely died within half an hour of each other. They all became very cold , hypothermic and starved of oxygen at the same time. The fittest would have lasted a bit longer than the weak. Wouldn’t have been in the best of health when they boarded.
The 58 that were in the trailer found in Dover a few years ago were Chinese.
Often trafficked as virtual slaves into various businesses in the UK often at the mercy of gangmasters .
Unfortunately even in this day and age their is still an underground trade in slave labour often carried out by their fellow countrymen .

If you get exposure and start to die of cold, one of the first things to fail is your brain. You can’t think straight. People who are found dead of cold are often in a state of partial undress, because they actually feel hot as they die.
