the company i work for has just bought a brand new shmitz trailer for me to use but we cant find any plate info on the trailer itself it came from germany went straight to the curtain people and then came to us , can any body help ie does it need to have a certificate issued from m.o.t or is it hidden away somewhere out of view ? tm is a bit clueless so i thought id ask here ,didnt want any probs with vosa in event of a tug.

Don’t worry, the Department of Transport plate is issued to a trailer following its first MOT, which must happen no later than one year after the trailer was supplied. The operator should apply for the first test well in advance, and then the ministry will issue the trailer an ID number, ussualy prefixed with a C and most people use a welder to draw the number on the chassis rails.
