Am seeing this qr codes everyware now for the track and trace app.
Are places you deliver to making your scan it before you enter there premises? As I imagine won’t be long before it becomes a rule of entry.dont scan can’t get in
.
I’ll be honest I don’t have the app yet.
Just curious if places insist on you scanning in.
And anyone who has it do you have to scan our as well?
As you could enter a building at say 10 am leave at 11am. Somebody else scans it at 14.00 who’s tests positive. Would you get a message to isolate even though you haven’t been near the person?

There was discussion about it on R4 earlier.
As I understand it…
There are two levels of alert.
If you have been in close to someone for a certain period of time you will told to isolate. (Passing some one on the street will be close, but long enough to trigger it)
If you visit C19 hot-spot ( many cases in a RDC?) you will be alerted to be vigilant for symptoms, but not told to isolate.
.
As it is anonymised you won’t know who or where contact occurred.

They’'d have to show me how to install an app on my 15 year old Nokia.
I don’t deliver to customers, but response would likely be “got a fixed cab phone, will that do?”
Not sure they are supposed to use it for RDCs and the likes, although no doubt some idiot manager will insist on it somewhere. Suspect it’d get stopped pretty quick when they aren’t getting deliveries / collections but are getting charged for failed ones.
Another response could be - I got it, but it flattened my phone due to bluetooth being on 24/7 which is one reason I really can’t be bothered.

I’ve downloaded the app because I’m ■■■■■■ off! ■■■■■■ off because my American collegues received 3 dollars per hour more for "heroically " working through the lockdown, ■■■■■■ off because some of my direct workmates have received 6 months average earnings for enjoying the sunshine, ■■■■■■ off because of the inevitable tax hike to pay for this when in reality those furloughed should shoulder the burden of extra tax as they’re the ones who benefited, not me.
That ■■■■■■ off that I installed the app 'cos I want a fortnight off on average earnings.
How will they know whether you’ve scanned their QR code? Just wave (something that looks like) a smartphone at it. Make an optional “Ping” noise if you like and job’s a good 'un…
I’m not in a rush to download the App, I understand that your phone will need a later software, iirc needs to be updated since June otherwise it won’t work.
I just use a bit of common, we don’t go to busy places, in my line of work I meet very few people, our fuel cards are on the phone, can get fuel without going in to the kiosk, so select the pump, fill up f*** off, food wise, taken from home, no longer buy out, can make my own brew if I need to. Went up to Keith the other week, two drops and a collection, came into contact, socially distanced on three occasions over two days.
Downloading the app is voluntary; you will just eventually find you can’t exist without it.
It will sneak it’s way to compulsion in the manner the OP expects, eventually being a statutory requirement to be able to buy food.
Downloading it will still be voluntary, as they can’t force you to have a modern smartphone to download it on, however you will need to eat.

3310 or 3210?
It seems there’s a thriving market for non Covid app phones
6230i. Fantastic phone, often has a signal when neither of my kids has on their all-singing, all-dancing smartphones, and as I’m often in remote locations when I’m away on my boat, good coverage is the most important thing to me, lest I have an accident operating a canal lock or similar and need to summon help. Doesn’t read QR codes though.
I downloaded it today. However once I downloaded it I had a thought. I take boxes to high risk areas but do not come into contact with anyone over then the gatehouse.
So my question is will it tell me to self isolate when I go to these places?

If you do not come into contact with anyone other than the person at the gatehouse then only person you could possibly catch it from would be the man at the gatehouse.
It then depends if he has the app or not?

The App has two separate functions.
One is contact tracing which uses the Bluetooth radio on your phone. The App constantly “pings” other phones which are running the App nearby using a low power mode which allows it to estimate how far away the other phone is. If you spend more than 15 minutes or so in close proximity (less than 2-4 metres) to another user, the “contact” is registered on your phone. If that person tests positive for the virus in the next couple of weeks, you get a notification to self-isolate. None of this has anything to do with geographic location.
The other function of the App is to allow you to “scan in” to a venue (eg a pub, shop etc). The App uses the camera on your phone to read the QR “barcode” displayed at the location, but it requires that you actively use this (ie that you point the camera at the QR code and tap the relevant button in the App). The idea being that you can be contacted if a local outbreak is traced to that particular location. If you are not scanning the QR code at the “high risk” locations that you visit, the App won’t know that you’ve been there.
