You Tube fame if you bent it … LOL … I’m sure one of those london cyclists with the cameras on their heads would capture the moment for posterity.

In my younger days there was a tiny, dirty little 20 ton sign on Tower Bridge road. I was on the way up with a Leyland with the muffler across the front and about 20 ton of steel wire. A young copper walking (yes in those days they did) towards me when the muffler blew out. It must have sounded like he was being strafed by a ■■■■■■■ Spitfire. I thought, oh ■■■■ and kept going as though nothing had happened and when I clocked the nearside mirror, he was just standing there looking at me disappearing over the bridge.

Your better off sticking to the crossing you know Dozy
Use the Woolworth Fairy next time

Only the terminally retarded wouldn’t spot the warning and diversion signs on it’s approach. Oh hang on, it’s Dozy we’re talking about.

I was parked in a side street to left of it waiting to be called round ,I was told to turn right at end of road and it’s only when your commuted to turning right you see the bridge straight in front of you  ,which why I screwed it round just before bridge .
When I got finally to tip point they were as mystified as me why he said turn right as it was straight on through the lights :unamused: .
But not many people get to screw a artic round just before tower bridge , so that’s something for my nxt rdc visit , I may add in I still wasnt sure which way to go so did a pirouette

My London map says it’s a 17tonne limit, does anyone know for sure, and I also have screwwed round at the lights before the bridge Dozy, I was coming back from the excel after tipping for the olympics in 2012 and took a wrong turn, I got some horn blasts and dirty looks though.

I went over it in the 80s  (the days before cameras) there was a copper that day also (maybe same copper…maybe same day :open_mouth:  ) I just shrugged my shoulders at him trying to look lost, he just nodded at me. You could do things like that then.

Lumberjack shirt, Rubber Duck style body warmer, Levi 401s with US trucker belt, and Cowboy boots to complete the 80s 'Trucker Chique, :sunglasses:

Thought I looked really cool but on reflection looked a complete 2at

That’s what I meant 501s  I was getting mixed up with Seddon Atki 401s
:unamused: …ie. senior moment/ showing my age/ truck brainwashed. :unamused:  all 3

You sound like a 70s ■■■■ star wannabe  . I can’t talk. Had the lumberjack shirt but not the rest. Had a baseball cap with a “Forde lake air service” written on it and a picture of a float plane. Got it from my mate who ran a float plane company in Canada. I went more for the Alaskan look (dear God). Funnily, I’ve just been to Alaska and they all dress like that still. Would’ve fitted in well! There’s a hazy 35mm print of me standing outside my Scania pulling a 20 foot box on a skele parked outside my folks house in a small village. Thought I looked the balls. I got alsorts of grief from the locals about leaving my truck there on Fridays when running back into the yard, balls to them. I told them so. You could say balls to nymbys even those 14 years ago

Never been done for going over it but it was in a coach I was driving

My ■■■■ up was in the 60’s you young whippersnapper. Looks like they’ve lowered the weight over the years. Wish I could do the same.

Nothing at all that’s my point, I’ve been around trucks that bloody long I’ve started to associate everything with them :unamused:

btw. I’ve deleted the Grandpa reference in the quote, to treat it with the contempt it deserves.

The 60s :open_mouth:
I was at school then.
I was on about Trucker fashion in the 80s before. It will have been bib & brace, cloth cap, and clogs the 60s lorry driver wore then was it, and an Army greatcoat for winter.
