I thought you were being sarcastic until I searched it on the web and saw these were actual scheduled gigs
Queen were outstanding in their day, but I personally wouldn’t want to see just half the original band.
As for Erasure… horses for courses I guess, but an electo pop-duo wouldn’t be my idea of a big arena gig, though I might have enjoyed a Depeche Mode gig back around the time of their seminal album Violator (1990)
EDIT: just a thought, but I can’t help thinking that proof of vaccination might become a requirement for participating in crowd events in the future.
One of my regrets is not seeing Queen in M.Keynes around 86 ish, I did have the chance but something came up at the time.
I’ve seen Adam Lambert on tv he ain’t no Freddie, but he does a bloody good job tbf,
I would go and see them if opportunity came up sure…Paul Rogers (exFree/Bad co,) .also did an excellent job for Queen, about 10 yrs ago, but in a different style.
As for Erasure hmmm ,.I ain’t a musical snob whatsoever, my music tastes range very widely from anything between Led Zepp and George Michael solo stuff, and much in between.
If I think something is good I’ll listen. I got lot of stick on here for suggesting watching Marti Pellow’s lockdown sessions but it didn’t stop me, music is music in my eyes, Erasure are not my cup of tea, but they do bring back lots of good memories from the 80s, so I mebbys would go and see them…if it was free.
Your point about vaccines being the key to get in gigs etc,.that is what I have always said, it will be the condition of everything,.and that has what has changed my mind about going for it as soon as.

Lol
I, like Rob, also had a chance to see Queen in 1986 on the Kind Of Magic tour but couldnt go as I was skint. So this is probably the last chance to see whats left of Queen play live.
I saw Erasure in 1989 I think it was. My girlfriend dragged me kicking and screaming to watch them. I actually enjoyed them in the end. Said girlfrieend is now my wife and she wants to see them again.

Tbf Andy Bell is a good singer, don’t make the mistake I made once of trying to sing on karaoke ‘‘Give a little respect’’, and trying to keep in tune on the last high notes of the chorus.
Lets face it those dear friends of ours in Calais & Aosta who check the paperwork will be having an ■■■■■■ over getting back to the good old days.
Still think I have a 10france note & a 5k lira one somewhere ?

You’re assuming that mass crowd events will open up again in the forseeable, not sure that’s going to happen again before half of the current people involved in event and stage work have retired.
I took my boy to see his favourite band at a big arena gig in Feb 2020, I’m sooooooooo pleased I did, his chance of seeing them again in a big venue (the only type they play) is too low to calculate - I’m relieved he got to see a proper rock concert at least once in his youth.
I think all of us from every side of this argument have to get it through our thick skulls that the world we inhabited in winter 2019/20 has gone, forever, nothing is ever going to be the same again,
Precisely - I’m staggered by the amount of normally-intelligent people who constantly talk about things “getting back to normal”. In late November one of the company directors spoke about plans for 2021. When I said all the scientific guidance indicated we were heading for Lockdown 3, which was going to put the kybosh on these plans, it wasn’t well received.
Recently a banner’s gone up in Swansea, advertising that Ollie Murrs (who he?) will be playing in Singleton Park in June.

I’m sure you’re right.
I daresay Farage will be on the Christmas card list of customs agents both in the UK and EU.
“Thanks for the job Nigel”!
^^^^^^^The guvnor Roger has spoken, he’s done more touring than Thomas Cook, he ain’t jumping on the scaremonger’s bandwagon, like modern artists who have grown up only knowing the EU, oh yeh and Old Elton John getting his M&S knickers in a knot about it also, poor old Queen is down to his last 100 mill bless him. …
Any problems can and will be sorted after the initial settling in period is over, how long that period lasts is down to the EUc ceasing their policy of putting up barriers and trying their best to be ■■■■ awkward due to their petulance.about this and every other aspect of the process of Brexit (process being the operative word, things will not happen or change overnight) …Come back in about 6 months or so to this thread, if I was wrong, I’ll hold my hands up.

6 months from now? That is when the UK import rules become fully effective isn’t it?

Ok , for what it’s worth … I’ve been touring bands for the past 8 years with Fly By Nite .
I can honestly say it’s been the best job I’ve ever had . Last March I,d just got to the Spanish border heading for Madrid for the first show of another 2 month tour when THE call came . Headed back to the UK and that was that , I haven’t done any work in the industry since .
Now this was all due to Covid of course , so we’ve been holding out hope of returning ever since . However , with the deal done ( or not done ) by the tories , it’s now impossible to go back to how it was . You’ve all heard about the 90 days in 180 rule etc , visa requirements to tour and the restrictive costs attached mean it’s never going to happen as it stands …and that’s without the need for truck specific carnets and the cabotage rules !!!
The whole industry has been decimated and further kicked in the teeth by this " deal " .
You may scoff at us rock and roll boys sometimes , nut we just truck stuff same as the rest of you , it’s just we’ve been told to stop now , and don’t know if or when we will ever be able to do the job again .
Oh and by the way , to the poster commenting on Queen …having done 4 European tours with them , I’m telling you …you’re missing out !!!

Been thinking about you chaps and how hard it must be. Hard for us all but esp in that industry I imagine as it becomes your whole way of life. And not only that the industry may never be the same again and no end is in sight. Driving sleeper buses or stage trucks is something I always dreamed of. Maybe I’ll get a go one day
