Having just loaded on Friday in Germany for Ireland and transited the UK to Pembroke all has gone ok, T forms raised and printed off, KAP done online in a matter of minutes and PBN raised for Pembroke crossing without any problems. Border force in Pembroke spent a minute looking at the paperwork and all ok. It is all new and I’m sure on other trips it may not go as smooth but in the scheme of things no real difference so far

You lie!! It could not have possibly gone so smoothly!!
Shouldn’t you have been stuck in Pembroke for 9 days because your papers were not in order?
Bloody Brexit holding up freight to Eire!

4 years ago, yes…
But I`m not opening that particular can of worms
G’wan, you know you want to.

Well, surprise surprise that the worst PM of my lifetime heading the most shambolic government of all time simply didn’t really think of a massive export, U.K. companies account for 85% of European touring work, instead concentrating on the tiny fishing industry as it allowed them to rant on about British waters and sovereignty to appeal to their base little Englanders so totally seemingly forgot to bother about it and failed to even ask for a specific deal for the touring industry let alone negotiate one.
But anyway GOOD OLD BORIS! HAPPY MARGRET THATCHER DAY! RULE BRITANNIA!
robroy:
It’s a bit like your team getting back into the Premier league and complaining they ain’t top of the league right away…chill out, give it a season.
Just saying.
Yup, let’s wait. Here’s my prediction. We have the deal, that’s it, done, as we are repeatedly told. So in a years time chances are this country will have seen most of the touring industry and some of the most iconic names in transport, Transam (inc. iconic Edwin Shirley Trucking) and Fly By Nite first that spring to mind, will have mostly left these shores because it’s the only way they can protect their business. Hope to be proved wrong, I don’t want this country to become the basket case it’s fast turning into, no one does, but we simply NEED far far far better leadership than what we are currently suffering. Who that is I don’t know but FFS people start holding government to account, you know, that radical concept, like we used to? But hey ho, RULE BRITANNIA!
Dodgy Permit:
Regardless this will only effect a very (very) small section of the distribution sector-workforce.
Ah yeah f**k em eh. Thank god we concentrated on the frankly gigantic fishing industry with its enormous 12k employees
RULE BRITANNIA
Anyway my BRITISH roast chicken is nearly ready so that’s me done for now. I just felt Franglais needed some moral support. Though to be honest I’m not sure why he bothers on here, it’s like shouting at a Nigel Farage poster*, in your pants, in winter with the heating cut off. Have a nice evening all, sleep a good honest BRITISH sleep after an enjoyable Margret Thatcher day.
RULE BRITANNIA
*I hope to god one of these doesn’t exist but you just know it does

Oddly enough the longest delay was in Rosslare seems to be a bit of gold plating from the Irish authorities, spent 15 minutes with the agricultural inspectors even though it was a sealed EU to EU load, never had meat inspected by them before and then another 15 minutes with customs who after checking nothing said I could go
Juddian:
You’re assuming that mass crowd events will open up again in the forseeable, not sure that’s going to happen again before half of the current people involved in event and stage work have retired.
I took my boy to see his favourite band at a big arena gig in Feb 2020, I’m sooooooooo pleased I did, his chance of seeing them again in a big venue (the only type they play) is too low to calculate - I’m relieved he got to see a proper rock concert at least once in his youth.
I think all of us from every side of this argument have to get it through our thick skulls that the world we inhabited in winter 2019/20 has gone, forever, nothing is ever going to be the same again,
Precisely - I’m staggered by the amount of normally-intelligent people who constantly talk about things “getting back to normal”. In late November one of the company directors spoke about plans for 2021. When I said all the scientific guidance indicated we were heading for Lockdown 3, which was going to put the kybosh on these plans, it wasn’t well received.

I remember being proud of being British & ‘Brittania Ruling The Waves’
It saddens me now that it is no longer true & now ‘Brittania Waives The rules’
Well I currently hold tickets to see Queen in June and Erasure in October so they are still expecting to go ahead with concerts.
I thought you were being sarcastic until I searched it on the web and saw these were actual scheduled gigs
Queen were outstanding in their day, but I personally wouldn’t want to see just half the original band.
As for Erasure… horses for courses I guess, but an electo pop-duo wouldn’t be my idea of a big arena gig, though I might have enjoyed a Depeche Mode gig back around the time of their seminal album Violator (1990)
EDIT: just a thought, but I can’t help thinking that proof of vaccination might become a requirement for participating in crowd events in the future.
