yup we got held up, i got held up by 2 different protests, although the ones at croke park made different claims to me when i asked what they were protesting about!!! about 6 of us missed our ferry and had to get rebooked, which delayed us, but we are all here in plenty of time
paulson, like gogzy says, we have the work, but not enough trucks, so we get smits in to help out until black trucks become avaliable, and they dont have a website mainly cos the office are a bit lazy i reckon!!!

Hi chaps, just out of interest, what rate for the job would an O/D such as R (rob??) Bailey, be getting for the job??
Would he be on a daily rate, one for being parked up and another for when moving or a one off price to do the whole tour■■?
It cant be a bad number for an O/D providing you have the right looking piece of kit to fit in with such an image conscious industry.
Cheers, bullitt.
dont know about the trucks for sure bullit, but i was talking to an o/d with a bus the other day and he works on a daily rate for the tour if thatt makes sense, ie £■■■.■■ per day X say 90 days (for a three month ish tour) then he covers tolls and ferrys etc, some do it a little cheaper per day for the tour then have the tour company provide a credit card for fuel/tolls, hope this helps, but someone like euromat or kindle would know better
i was wondering are most of u guys on these jobs single or are u married and the wifes spending ur hard earned cash while ur away.how long u away on these tours months weeks of do u get to fly back for a few days and leave the motors at venues.

i know some people are married/with people on this job, but there is alot of single guys on this job, mat will know better than me. its probably easier to be single though int his job unless you have a very very understanding partner
nah you dont get to go home for a few days and leave the truck at the venue but you usually end up exploring or whatnot in whatever city you are in.
lenght of time away depends on the lenght of the tour though folk do go away for 6/9 months at a time.
you will have to find out about the actual pay rate from the companies you work for but the night out is a way better rate than back home and also the pay is very good.
as for cleaning your clothes you just have to find a laundrette or something to get them washed.
thanks for that info.was at wembley going to my last drop on foulton road oppisite the stadium when coming down past the arean i saw the peter smit trucks pulling out with the u2 stage on their backs.was going to try and park on the carpark outside the stadium but found a parking place oppsite where i tipped no hassle also pick up free wifi aswell on the lappy.
did park at the stadium once when i bought steel in for the new stadium dropped it and picked a empty up as the firm i work for r swains & soons took over the haugale side when the firm who was doing it then went under.we aslo bought the roof sections in at night 4.5m wide.also the tude station at the end of wembley way i bought all the steel work in for that as well 6 loads from greenford 3am till 9am.boss had said it take most of the day but the lads just wanted it asap and asked me to get it to them quickly.lucky i had strap the loads up the night before.
