seen a good number of solo units going up and down the m1 between m18 and j19 the last 2 days… but i can confirm its not mark or matt
no doubt ashley will have done a few loads for season 5 and will say how if it wasnt for him all yorkshire folk would prob all die of starvation if he didnt break the picket line
and if he gets a drop nr hull he mioght ring the yard to ask if he can goto sperm point
Everyman and his dog has a HGV license these days, more drivers than jobs, vacancies will always get filled. HGV driving isn’t anywhere near as skillful as it used to be in general.

I’m a green scum also. my neighbour was telling me how bad my pay was… Until I showed my payslips for last few weeks. Now he wants to come off his “best job in the world” on European fridges and do chipliner work.

everyone things they know the ins and outs of stobarts pay untill they read it in black and white i have shushed many a driver slating me when they saw me in a green shirt
took me 8 months to get on with a firm that pay the same if not slightly more some weeks
fact is people can slag em off all they want but the fact is the wages are alright if your willing to work for em
ps how is life on the chiplinners palSerious question…What BASIC does a Monday to Friday Day man earn gross? What bonus’s are added to this figure? ie meal allowanace, attendance, fuel efficiency etc.
Same question to any former Donny Tesco drivers…
My understanding was that ESL pay day rate £7.20 per hour guaranteed 10 hours = £72 per day = £360 per week = £18720 pa.
Not great if this is still true. I have seen propaganda from Stobarts making the wages look attractive by including night out allowance, and other benefits within their calculations to show upto £38,000 as an achievable salary. I found this to be offensive as these ‘allowances’ are in no way ‘salary’. One should not have to spend 5 nights out in order to earn a decent living wage.
If you were on holiday you would only get your basic pay.
If ESL were to increase the basic pay and do away with the bonus’s this would result in them having to pay increased holiday pay. At least currently they can avoid paying a lot of the bonus’s through failure of meeting one of many qualifying criteria.
i couldnt tell you pal i was tramping and happy still does tramp i know they take more than the general boys but if your on days then you wont any less than average but to make decent money at stobarts you have to batter the hrs but i didnt mind as i was tramping i wouldnt want to do the same hrs if i was going home every night
So there we have it, can I take it all the blokes stood outside the last couple of nights hurling abuse are now gonna be unemployed ■■ Are they too proud to become green scum now they realise the strike is pointless ? Are they to be martyrs ? Will they tell their children and wives and bank managers “sorry I would rather have no job and be a doley than work for Stobart”.
Sure it ■■■■■ for you that you lost a cushy well paid number, but let’s face it in times of cutbacks your bubble was always going to burst, I can even empathise how hard coming back to the typical wage rate is going to be, a shock to the system for sure, but the daft thing is your kicking the only option you have straight in the mouth.
Well all I can say is I’m glad your wealthy enough to pick and choose where and who you work for, at least you have been offered a full time job which is something some of us wish we even had an option on.
I managed a couple of shifts this week because of the strikes, I would have probably earnt next to F all otherwise, but then I don’t have the option on a full time job.
Jobs are precious, I think some people forget this in the heat of the moment.
Working for stobarts isn’t the best job in the world or the best pay however it is a job non the less, but when things do pick up people will leave and they will come unstuck, until then i dont see how putting food on the plate and keeping a roof over your head is such a bad thing to do. Try being a planner with no pay rise in 3 years and when you ask about it you get told you should be gratefull you have a job. Stobarts time will come but to slag off there drivers is a bit harsh as we all need to earn a living and can’t all afford to go on the dole to prove a point.
Rumour has it that tesco are/will be setting on drivers in the very near future, Reading, Lichfield & Peterborough i hear the walls whisper, why don’t the so called shafted drivers @ Doncarseter try relocate within the company if they love it that much!?
I wonder if any of the Tesco Doncaster drivers are ex miners who retrained after the successful strike they had?

That’s because they are/were on a better rate than most other Tesco drivers, a lot were still on the old wincanton contracts.
As for a work to rule, that would mean some of them doing more work than usual
We’ll done for making a stand lads, but what will it actually achieve? You’ll still be out on your ear in less than 90 days.Yes the jobs offered with Stobbarts does not pay the best, but neither does any other’s in th area.
Thats it Drivers Stick Together like normal.

if his boiler had broke whilst striking it would be £600 as he lost the 2 days pay … so striking is not worth it never has been never will be.
Oh the ignorance. Outstanding.
what do you mean oh the ignorance!! … I have worked for companies where I striked It got us know where … my last full time job in England we were not allowed to strike … so worked to rule yeah that made a difference to what happened to us just meant a backlog of [zb] and [zb]prisoners who were banged up for 23 1/2 hours … I am not ignorant … but I would not strike for another depot … do you think the tesco drivers would of gone out for the other depots nah, just protecting there own interested.
If I were a Donny driver. I would get hooked up with Prestige Recruitment in Hull or Doncaster and get £8.50 ph day rate to do Stobarts Tesco. With all the extra bits you can offset against tax/tax credits/housing benefit etc they might just be on similar money to pre-TUPE.
Worth a thought…

There was no offence meant in my reply. Re-read what you have written above then consider this.
So, if his family…wife…kids…had been wiped out in a road accident…god forbid…it would have been the fault of the strike because he was standing on the picket line at that time?

I’m struggling to see how that is even remotely a relevent comparison.
