discoman:
if his boiler had broke whilst striking it would be £600 as he lost the 2 days pay … so striking is not worth it never has been never will be…
There was no offence meant in my reply. Re-read what you have written above then consider this.
So, if his family…wife…kids…had been wiped out in a road accident…god forbid…it would have been the fault of the strike because he was standing on the picket line at that time?
I’m struggling to see how that is even remotely a relevent comparison.

Sorry about that, can’t help you.
Who said the boiler breaking was the fault of the strike?

I just used that as an example to get across the point that no ones kids will starve for losing a couple of shifts
Then you added a “what if” well there’s a million different ones that could be added, what if whilst striking he found a pound bought a scratch card and won a million, then striking is worth it !! What if whilst at home one of his children took ill and he was there to save the child’s life, what if… What if…what if…
I think he called you ignorant as you seemed to miss my point that losing a couple of shifts would not mean anyone’s life would be ruined
I think the Union Reps at UNITE should hang their heads in shame.
They have allowed what should of been simple TUPE agreement turn into a twenty four hour walkout because of their inability to negotiate with Management or even worse, further their own political ambitions.
Even worse, is the Stobart pro and anti name calling that every thread that might vaguely have something to do with ESL resorts to on TNUK.
To be right honest, I would be hard pushed if I could remember a steering wheel attendant I’ve met in the last fortnight that was actually worth £7.20 ph.
What I suggest is that drivers should try concentrating on their own jobs and wages and how they can earn a bit more and not just how little they can do for less…
from what ive seen there was very little disturbance to the deliveries …drivers that went in were waiting for trailers to be loaded so there was no back log …so id say it was a waste of time
Ah Ha!. Reading CM this morning and it appears 27 new jobs have been mysteriously created from the ESL/Tosco dispute.
CM report that:“…This followed the operator’s decision to make all 183 drivers’ roles redundant…”
ESL report:“…David Pickering, Eddie Stobart MD, said:…we have already committed over 120 alternative driving roles within Stobart…with Tesco offering an additional 90 warehousing jobs…”
Ummmm!
183 redundancy’s.
210 jobs redeployed in a trice.
Has some-one got it terribly wrong or is some-one telling porkies? It’s in black 'n white. And this is the type of reporting we have to put up with. What you think?

stobart have offered or took on 120
tesco are offering 90 warehousing jobs, seems pretty clear to me fella
The whole of Tesco needs to stand together and do a nationwide stoppage for a week, empty the food markets of stocks, block all Scabby Stobbart drivers from entering and leaving, we did it in 1997 and bought the contry to its knee’s and got everything we asked for.
I hear the Boy scouts have stopped this years Bob a job week, Stobbart undercut them

I’m glad I work for Stobart and not this Stobbart company. They seem to be getting some right stick.
There is more chance of the whole of Syria having a big cuddle whilst giving out hand jobs to the Turks than a ex Tesco drivers getting their pay and jobs back. Going green was the way forward whether they liked it or not, whether it is fair or not, Sadly they seem intent on blowing any chance of continued employment of any kind via a pointless strike.
