Not long before it was withdrawn to end up on Ebay, W844 ULN at Hansons’ siding, Oxford Road Kidlington. The old Ministry of Food silo in the background is the one seen from the A34.

How many are based there Nathan. Is that the place where you are based ?
Cheers Dave.
Hi Dave, yes I’m one of the 6 based at Gill Mill gravel pit at Ducklington. I can cycle there in under 15 mins. The lorry allocation at Gill Mill is 1 artic (Dads’), 2 8wheelers and 3 6wheelers. The 6w Volvo is always on Cemex Kidlington, and Dad on Smiths Concrete Blackthorn (Bicester).Shocking thing is, the Foden 8w carries nearly 2t more than the Man.

Sounds as if they need to keep those Fodens going as long as they are inexpensive Nathan. An extra two ton mounts up over twelve months.
Cheers Dave.
A coupl of Fodens have struggled to get through the mot recently, and we’ve just sold 2 Y regs. The Volvo FEs have been a pain in the arse: Broken springs, adblue failures, air con playing up…Coupled to the fact virtually all the drivers give them a wide berth when the Volvo drivers are off (except me, I quite like them). Altitude wasn’t enthusiastic being long term relief Volvo driver
You will have to use your persuasive skills on the owners to buy some Mercedes Axors Nathan.Ivor Duggan and Afon Williams who drives it for him swear by the lorry. He wishes he had bought two and knowing him he eventually will.
Cheers Dave.

Daf and Man seem to be in favour although the Volvo FMX demo got noticed. I doubt a steel bodied 6w Man would carry 15t and the small cab version has only a 7litre engine.

It wasn’t the best thing in the world I have driven better, but I have also driven a lot worse, it was comfortable, quite, but it’s main problem was it was under powered, hit a hill and it died a death, it was blood sweat and gears.

Get them to buy him an Iveco John .
Cheers Dave.
They’re getting about a lot out this way Dave; Hills of Swindon have bought some as mixers and Clancy Docwra swear by them. We had one on demo and the two drivers who tried it were quite impressed.

Cheers Dave.

This lorry went in last week to get a new headlamp bulb, and as the cab was being lifted a creaking was heard with a bit of resistance. It was left in gear
This lorry (or rather its’ driver) was kind enough to help push an artic at a roundabout
Right then, I’ll probably get told off for posting this
I reversed onto the Gill Mill washbay this afternoon to find it buried under at least an inch of slurry…Went around to the plant washdown where there’s a pressure washer we can use…to find this in just the same state as the lorry washdown. Needless to say I didn’t bother with washing down and this will be 3 weeks without washing the lorry off. Mainly down to the fact that work is being piled on leaving no time wash down, but also the disgusting state of Gill Mill and Ardley quarry (although Ardley has a good wheelwash,Gill Mill has none at all) The lorry is in such a state the normally green tailgate is grey with only the reflectors and “Motorway Maintenance” signs visible.
The pic below I took after I’d cleaned the footwell, and after I’d then had to use said lorry wash to hose some muck out of the body before loading aggregate the other day;
I’m not one for show condition tippers but this is getting embarassing out on the road
Nowt wrong with that Nathan, you can still see the lights and number plate! I didn’t wash my truck for three years, though the gaffer gave it a birthday occasionally. No money earned sitting in washbays.
Pete.

That’s a miracle in itself; A tractor+bowser drops water on the dirty haul road which picks up and gets sprayed onto our doors, windows and just about everywhere else. I cleaned the lights and no plates at least 3 times today…
I am no tart but I just could not drive a dirty truck ,
thats why I dont drive tippers and stay on clean work only .
Sorry not knocking you buddy , but your cab is dirty mate .

I know mate, what ■■■■■■ me off was I’d cleaned the inside whilst waiting to tip, then later that day got it plastered simply by using the washdown…The mud on the clutch is solid. We’ve complained about the state of the quarry but it falls on deaf ears.
Wonder if Sheehans’ are after tipper drivers?
Gill Mill was being tidied up today, I wonder if someone saw my rant, sorry post from the other day??
I did my bit, had a bit of time between loads today so scrubbed the cab floor and got the pedals mud free; the brake pedal shines
Spent nearly an hour on the much cleaner washdown and now she shines inside and out…Ready for muckaway from Raf Brize tomorrow and it’s peeing down with rain outside at the moment
