Muckaway is on.holiday at the mo, renting an old chapel near Evesham. Ive left my motor with Father Ted; A driver whos Oxon a to z is so old it shows the railway to Woodstock! I even washed it for him and cleaned the interior…

That’ll be a first then!!!

And I’ll bet Nathan is on his knees every night in the Chapel praying for the next new motor!!

I’ve been on my knees… nappy changing!

Never mind Nathan it won’t last forever,he will soon want a bike then a mtorbike then a car and so on  .
Cheers Dave.

I recall this truck , wasnt this very blinged up at one time ?

Not that one, everybody hated it! It didn’t stay long and was sold to M&M skips who used it to run transfer waste to landfill sites. She’s still taxed and I think operated by Cw Sproston who run a Leyland Cruiser artic on lime.

funny you should mention the sproston’s cruiser nathan , it passed me going through buxton today . it is nicely turned out for a d plate , it pulled away quite smartly uphill on the a6 , cheers , dave

I’ve seen pics of that Cruiser and saw F38 at Gaydon a few years ago but nopics or sightings. The Leylands were never held in as high regard as the Fodens were although Dad said they went fairly well and were great cold starters om freezing weather.

The gearchange on the new m.a.n is a bit cluncky but it is new.It is a lot quieter, has got more pulling power, and is a lot better on feul than the foden

That makes 3 Smiths drivers on TNUK now then Jim

I didn’t realise they ran that many tippers! AnonII.

The new tractor unit waiting to go on the road this morning. Automatic transmission and 460 engine. The fleet are more varied now than the 70s when it was a mix of Bedford, Leyland, Guy and Foden.

Now on borrowed time…

Dad gave me a lift to the yard this morning to collect my lorry, only to find the drivers door in bits (lock seized and wouldn’t lock) so I did a morning muckshifting on Gearcrunchers’ old motor at South Leigh. I thought I’d better obtain photographic evidence to show I can drive 8leggers

If those Fodens share the same lock barrels as the Dafs then its no surprise. I used to carry a long iron bar so I could close the passengers door (lock bust) without getting out the drivers seat! I had to bite the bullet and change the drivers lock though - not getting in or out wasn’t really an option!

They are daf. Workshop manager was working on mine and he said they’re hopeless. Fodens dont have the air deflectors so the dirt gets blown into the locks…

Taken on the weighbridge at Smiths’ Concretes Manor Farm Quarry, Hardwick. Nice to find an oldie on the net

Not sure exactly but an 8wheeler had a ■■■■■■■ motor…I believe they had another Guy artic after that before a W reg Foden one.
