Hi Mark, I haven’t got one of yours; I remember Smiths running three Freighters, two were definitely E regs driven by Ernie Ayris and Glyn Miners and the other driven by Terry Fowler. I remember one didn’t stay long when Smiths’ decided to just operate 2x 4wheelers instead. The E regs were replaced with Foden 2235s on R regs.
NeilB, do you have any pics of the G reg Leylands that Smiths ran? G986RJO was the narrow cabbed 8wheeler; I heard it was last seen near Bubbenhall a few years ago??

No mate, that would have been some of the Bletchington lorries as they’re closer to Ardley quarry where the stone’s coming from. I do get out that way on odd occasions delivering shingle but not as much as I did pre-recession…

Where do you get your Lime from Nathan? Dennis.

Mostly from our stone pit between Brize Norton and Burford (Bekstone). It’s crushed down 3mm to dust and stored undercover. It’s also used by Pavestone onsite for making reconstituted cotswold brick and blocks. We’re sending a lot up Banbury way, I presume it’s because it’s all ironstone up that way (acidic soil). The lime season seems to be dragging on this year…

It looks like the sheet hasn’t been wound back before loading, but it’s actually been taken off (by fitters  ) after something broke in the motor and is awaiting repair. No lime for Trevor then…

Don’t you believe it,he’ll be up at Dale Farm on Monday morning “assisting” the baliffs!!!

Hi Nathan , flashed you today :open_mouth: , well it was a foden with the yankee number plate , no union jack flag and gardner sunvisor , around the old mill at kidlington .I was in my dads kangooooooooooo . Driver waved

That was me. I only put that stuff in for a bit of fun, although I admit to buying a roll of that non slip meshing from the pound shop and now the engine tunnel’s a useful storage area. I was going into Hansons’ sidings when you saw me. I saw The Hoff again yesterday morning, holding up traffic in Hanborough

Hi nathan , thats great then , pity the visor and flag was not still up , thought it looked good on a foden  .
Also yes "the hoff was there for two days , he said the parking space provided for his truck was bad , it was a long walk to the front door :frowning: .The hoff started for me in May but I have know him for 20 years , he was on for Brs Oxford on the Habitat contract then was on Lesters Removals untill May when he was made reduntant with two days notice , just happened one of my long term drivers of 49 years was retiring ( good ridance ) and we took Phil on , for us it was the best thing we have done , he is good with customers and the lads and is prepared to do nights away and he keeps his motor clean and tidy  . Got to save up now for a new truck for him .

Hi Nathan , was reading all through your posts the other day and saw a name Dave Curry , I knew a Dave Curry , he worked for Blanchford when I was a kid, he should have a brother Richard who I went to school with , Daves truck was a 7.5 t Dodge Commando  , cant recll the reg at the moment , he was a fair haired chap. Ask him for me .
