I saw an ex Smiths Foden 6 wheeler on the A443 north of Worcester today, I had just loaded at Ball Mill Quarry, so he may have been going in there.

W845 ULN (4000 series)? That’s based near Gt Malvern, Fryske got a pic of it a while ago and posted it on here. How’s things, John?

Yeah that would be the one mate, it looked tidy. Things are OK still busy.
cheers
John.

On the A449

Just put the first load on the new MAN artic. Lovely looking with Wilcox trailer, 29t payload.

I saw the MAN artic on the Witney By pass this afternoon, looked very smart.

That’s the only problem with the Wilcox it’s heavy, we get just over 30 ton on our MAN’S. Saying that I have a bloody Wilcox on at the moment ( it’s costing me money  ) if I don’t get rid of it in the next couple of days I will defect it to get rid of it.

Christ John, I thought the trailer was light; Weighbridge asked me to guess what it’d carry I said 28700. Dad gets the Scania, Thursday. I’d assume that carries 200kg or so more than the MAN.
Are you paid on a tonnage bonus, John?

Only thing I don’t like is the holes in the front bumper, really lets down an otherwise smart design!

Must admit the Smiths livery goes well with the MAN cab.

Looks like a day cab on that one Nathan, but I don’t suppose there are any nights out.Just thinking of the resale value.
Cheers Dave.

At the moment Dave, Smiths keep them too long to worry about resale values. 10 year lifespan at the moment but it was meant to come down to 8 but the recession put paid to it. Their lorries aren’t for sale for very long as they’re so well maintained. I was told today an 05 reg 8wheeler will be vacated soon and there are two people interested in driving a loading shovel…

The bumper must be something to with Smiths,or the people who painted it. All of ours have proper plugs fitted from new.

It’s not the first one I’ve seen though, Samworth bros. trucks all end up the same

Apparently something to do with them being Heavy duty bumpers. The Samworth ones are very smart trucks but that spoils them somewhat!

Smiths’ first ever Scania debuts 8am Monday…
…Well Dad’s been told to get down there for then.

See what you mean there mate, and your right it looks awful, never noticed it before.

One last pic of Dad in the Foden.

Nice working shot of your dads Foden , I wonder how he is getting on today with the Scania .
