A driver where I work is a tramper and this year marks his 50th anniversary with the company. Well, that’s not strictly true, it’s his 50th year at the depot but it has been Salvesons, Norberts, XPO and now GXO sin his time there.I’ve seen my company change its name to many times! Started when it was UYC (United Yeast Company, which was part of Distillers Group,Food Group services, which then got bought out by Guinness)…food side of it then went to Fitch & Son when they bought it, Booker Fitch, Booker Food Services, 3663, Bidvest & now Bidfood….might have missed 1 or 2 in the early years
did uyc have a place in stratford upon avon.
I know we used to go in the old Stratford Canners place which if memory serves me right was on Timothy Bridges Rd….think some of ours called it SONA Foods. As we were part of Guinness at the time, a lot of trunking was done on behalf of them and I do remember trailers full of Johnny Walker coming and going
