Define “a job”?
I’ve ticked “more than 20”, but some of those might have lasted only a month, maybe two. I started in the world of work in the 1970’s, having been sold the line “get a trade so you’ll always have something to fall back on”
Then the recession of the 1980’s hit home. The day we finished our apprenticeships we got a pat on the back and were shown the door “Well done lads, but there’s no jobs for you” . For the next few years, getting a few months of steady work seemed like a dream sometimes.
I think I’ve had 17 jobs, all but three driving.
I haven’t counted the various agency gigs in between…
Is showing a lengthy list of previous employments a reason to willy wave or show how unemployable one is?

No not really. It demonstrates that no matter how or why one leaves a job one can find another.
The better jobs are worth hanging onto as long as possible
I only included the bone fide, full time jobs, not agency. Even though there are 3 agency short term contracts that I carried out over multiple seasons, as well as the many 1 day to 2 month type agency jobs.
So that’s 8 I can recall.
Here goes
Paper round
Lo cost 2 stores
Wickes
Pebble cote polystyrene
Agency packing mostly
Spar ( same place as 1sr lo cost)
Focus DIY
Agency bin man ,
Combat poly styrene (part of the Glossop springs vale but in Worthing )
Ft litter picker
Skip sorter (got my cat C while working there but though them
Agency then F/T council driver driving bin and recycling wagons
Agency driving
7.5t driver Consort Frozen foods Bhill
Moved house
Agency then FT at Curry’s home delivery
Went SE van driving parcels various (nearly lost my house doing that )
Agency driving various temp to perm
2015 AFS cat C then they paid for my C+E in 2017 left in 2021 when company was brought out
TMR 3 months ran to max
Back to AFS (Meachers ) 4 weeks
Been where I am now for 1 year 5 months
Not sure how to count it because I quite a few before I started driving lorries but I’ve done agency for all but 3 years of the 28 years I’ve been driving lorries.
I’m on my 6th full-time job in around 22 years of driving, 3 out of the last 4 have been own account. spent a lot of time on agency in the 1st 7 years or so, so countless places, but did have a lot of regulars, I did a 6 week stint years ago in an engineering job, but was bored ■■■■■■■■■ so straight back on the wagons. 12 years ago I left to work on a large farm, thought I’d miss it, but didn’t, but still driving big stuff, after 5 years they bought some wagons, so was back on them 50% of the time for the following 5 years. Now 18 months into full-time driving again in the best job I’ve had!

Not like I mentioned both points I suppose….

Disclaimer- none of this is a boast, we live our own lives and people who’ve only had one or two jobs have experience every but as valid as mine. In fact my bonkers list will put lots of employers off so I’ve had to cull the old CV quite dramatically . We have to do our own thing our own way and respect that others do the same.
Since gaining my class 1 nearly 20 years ago I started with an agency job for about 2 months, and then 4 full time jobs, two of which account for nearly 17 years work.
I worked for 8 years before gaining my class 1, and I can count 4 full time jobs in that period (warehouse picker/ forklift driver/MIG welder/van and 7.5ton parcel courier), and quite a lot of agency jobs, some of which lasted just one shift.
Before leaving school I used to work in a town centre truck stop in Northampton when I was 15, cleaning, and sometimes cooking and serving fry ups.
I’d say 8 main jobs since leaving school in 1995. I haven’t been unemployed for even a week since then. I’m making some big changes this year though, and will probably drop down to about 8 shifts average per month with agencies.

Seeing as you piped up, your laying bare of your employment history on here and erasing large amounts for the benefit of your CV speaks volumes.

My life in the form of a pictograph0
There’s about 3 lorries in that photo montage that surprise me. I thought you were a tad too young to have driven them, even if you were driving in the late 90s. What year did you pass your class 1 test?
What looks like a Seddon Atkinson 200 series, a DAF 2800 (?), and a Leyland Roadtrain - these were all but gone around 2000.

I’ve worked for a few more firms than this but for the life of me I can not remember the names. I worked there on agency. I know one was a parcel company that specialised in delivering like boxes of nails and fasteners. Had a depot in Rainham near Rainham steel. They went into administration a few years ago. Blue vehicles. Found it! Aspray24
