If your saying there are others working, at least I think that’s what you mean. yes I know. There are lots doing a very good job out there.

On Xmas eve, Boxing day, new year’s eve & new year’s day. All night shifts

Ho hum.

I am driving my car from Redditch to Portsmouth on Crimbo Eve. Should I go the usual M40>A34>M27 or via Burford?

What’s wrong with the sleigh Santa.

You don’t think I drive the bloody thing myself do you? Do Norbert or Eddie drive their own trucks? That’s what agency elves are for. Can you imagine - 24 straight hours (sleighs are tacho exempt) sat behind six ■■■■■■■ reindeer? I’m off to the daughter’s for the festivities - she is cooking a special steak and kidney pud for tonight.

Some lads at my place are out now till Friday possibly sat for 800 quid per shift fri/sat.
I wouldn’t give up Christmas Eve day and chance of Boxing Day for that personally  especially bring out all week to, to each the own but I knew a lad that got a grand for Christmas Day 10 years ago and he woke up in his own bed and was back for dinner.
Stay safe if you’re out there *hic

They’re on Domestic Regs, Yule Log Books need to be filled in & 'Present’ed if required, Elf & Safety needs to be followed by only having 1 drink at every house. [emoji482][emoji481][emoji485][emoji483][emoji898]

I don’t think you’ll find any job that treats Christmas Eve as anything other than a normal working day.

That’s what we are all up against mate, there is always somebody who will either just take what is offered eithout trying, or who will work for ■■■■ all. :unamused:

My mate is working 1am Boxing day, for 13 quid an hour, he got the impression on the phone they were desperate (can’t think why :unamused: ) I said to him, if it was me (even though I would not entertain it in reality) I would have mmm and arrrd and appeared reluctant until they increased the rate, he is nothing like me however, so he just accepted the job. :unamused:
You can sure as hell bet those ■■■■ s are getting twice the amount.

Well if there isn’t there should be, and that is why I never work them now.
Dozy’s latest adventure is a classic example why. :bulb:

Firms may treat it is a normal day, but as Robroy says, a lot of drivers don’t want to work it…
So I’m happy to play the game with the agency, as if they are short of drivers and desperate, they’ll stump up the cash.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The secret is not having to care if you lose or not!
I’m happy enough not working today, and I’d have been equally happy working on a premium rate.
But what i wasn’t going to do, was work today on standard rate…

If you’re doing casual work you can decide to not work, and hence not get paid, on any day you like, but you aren’t going to get an increased rate on any random day you want that isn’t a weekend or recognised holiday.

You might as well ask to be paid double on Wednesday the 17th of August, as you would rather be on the beach.

So you think Xmas eve is just any random day of the year■■? :open_mouth:
I won’t bother this this conversation anymore…

Yes, it’s a normal working day in every industry I’ve worked in and known. The best you can hope for is an early finish.

Christmas is tomorrow, today is just the day before.

Spot on mate, Christmas Eve is just a normal working day.
In my line of work Christmas/Boxing Day/New Years Eve/Day, Bank Holidays are all classed as normal working days. Work has to be done the same as any other day.
