First time in at least 15 years that I have a christmas break. Off after tomorrow, back in on 4th January. First time also that I’m really looking forward to the time off. I’m not even getting drunk this year Don’t even want to get drunk this year…
Thank you please.

I’m working Xmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day (shifts have fallen like this).
So to any others working over the Christmas period. Have a good one and I wish you well and hope your back with your love ones soon.
Thanks, hope you and your family
Have a good one

One problem I can forsee working Christmas Day and NYD is the lack of facilities. Not sure if ordinary petrol stations are open, but I know a lot of motorway service stations shut for both of those and presumably truck stops would too. Nice quiet roads however - it’s boxing day and the day after new years that would seriously worry me.
Don’t depress him, Motorway service areas (MSA’s) are open 24/7 365 days.

Don’t laugh out loud when you phone in sick as they will think either you are telling lies or a 12 year old is making the call.
Off christmas eve and christmas day then back in for a double run (night out) on boxing day for less than time and a half. Next week, off new years eve and that’s it! I might take a long weekend the following week to reset my shift pattern
I am driving my car from Redditch to Portsmouth on Crimbo Eve. Should I go the usual M40>A34>M27 or via Burford?

I’d keep a close eye on the travel news & the highways web site, that A34 is a Git of a road, the M40 can back up & if Milton is still in bits (not been down that way for a few weeks) all the Christmas Getaways (who only drive for 2 days a year) will be having fun [emoji57]
Well I’m not working again today, got cancelled overnight due to low volumes again…
The question now is do I say I’m available for the other agency I’ve just signed up with for 1 specific upcoming role, and then have them try to offer me a load of dross that I’m bound to turn down? It wouldn’t be an issue, but I don’t want it to affect the specific job and 3 day assessment I’ve with them in January…
Decisions decisions…

Take a day off. Enjoy the birdsong. Watch the clouds as they weave their never ending story…
I was offered a Christmas cover contract which I declined, as quality time with people I actually want to be with, is more important to me.
I have lots of goodies in the house, so a good Christmas is ensured. {{missingthumbsupiconthingey}}
A day off is what I’ve decided!
It’s not like the agencies are paying anything extra from what I’ve seen anyway…
In fact I went into one on Monday to update my details and he was well bent out of shape with the rate I get from my normal agency, saying that he couldn’t possibly offer me that much. Not sure exactly what his angle was, as he seemed to be trying to get me to lower my expectations… But I was just thinking to myself; Well I won’t be doing any work for you then!
finished 4.30 pm Monday , (had a minor op booked tue pm ) told agency I wont be back till 4 jan going to enjoy my break , youngest is coming Christmas eve till boxing day
have week beginning 4th with agencey then I’m on full time for co ive been with for past 3 month . lifes good!!
happy Christmas to all

What’s wrong with the sleigh Santa.
I’m the same as ‘smokinbarrels’ full time Emergency services part time class 1 driver.
My shifts have fallen like this and doing what I do I just can’t take the day as sick. I think next year it will fall in my favour but this year I just need to ■■■■ it up.
My Wife’s off for the four days I have off after so that will more than make up for it.
Have a safe and very Merry Christmas everyone.
