I’m looking forward to dozy’s answer on which load is heavier!
Will it be the 27t of Concrete, or the 27t of Chipboard?
My money is on the concrete!
On a side issue dozy mate, if hills are a particular annoyance or bone of contention to you. Try not to take any loads to the french Alp’s, as there are more hills there going up than there are going down. It’s why the “Tour de France” is such a hard cycle race!
dozy:
your not telling me 50 mph is safe and 56 mph isn’t , come on rob were talking of 6 mph
Its nowt to do with being safe Dozy lad, its to do with having an on-board computer that tells my gaffa exactly what speed I was doing, in what speed limit, and my gaffa would rip me a new one for doing 56mph in and 50 zone
Mine has a camera, tracker, and speed checker thing that they can bring up on the computer. They are monitored daily, and if it shows even a skerrick of red, then you have your collar felt
I’ve tried telling him that - no response from Dozyville.
Pretty dismayed at the concrete versus chipboard thing…Jeez.
So, yes Evil he will believe you with the more roads go up hill than down thing.
I don’t think Dozy will be back on this thread. But I hope he learns something from the wise men on here.
Let’s face it, for those who love sitting 2 feet behind at 52/56, there are many pictorial opportunities on TNUK to see his fate. As Robroy correctly put it- it’s about sussing the job out.
No stress-tick.
Earn more-tick.
Get home safely-tick.
Look after the wagon and drive efficiently whilst monitored-tick.
Not doing the job much faster than your colleagues and trying to be a hero-tick.
I’m at my limiter with cruise control on, approaching another artic in lane 1. Slowly approaching but non the less i was going quicker so pulled out to lane 2 for an overtake. As my cab got in line with his back doors he must have sped up my about 1kph. It then takes me 4 miles to reach his cab. We then go down hill and he speeds up (going over 56) until I’m half way down his trailer again. As we start going up hill again same story, I slowly creep towards his cab. All he had to do was knock that 1kph back off and I’d have been gone and were all happy.
But, the funny thing was lane 1 then was shut for road works so he had to get into lane 2. Well because he’d been such a ■■■■ for the last several miles, well I wasn’t slowing down to let him come in front. He had to slow right down to get in behind me before the lane shut. Idiot. All he had to do was several miles prior to this was slow down by that 1kph again. In this situation he lost.
BUT…you and your enemy just turned the motorway into a dual carriageway for several miles. Are you not the better driver by just thinking ’ knob ’ and knocking your limiter back a couple of clicks?

Or you could have just knocked off a couple of clicks and pulled in behind…
Conor:
I used to flash drivers past, in fact I did on the way to the M74 from Lockerbie truckstop on Tuesday night to a guy who caught up to me and was following me a few times especially when we passed the Jenkinsons timber plant but he didn’t go past and as time goes on I’m starting to think that fewer and fewer drivers actually know what a couple of flashes of the left indicator actually means.
Like the wagon Trouble drives, all of ours are tracked with speed monitoring as well. Quite how negatively it would affect me I don’t know but I don’t want to find out and I’ve no need to find out because I’m not pushed to run to the last second. Always used to feel bad for those behind us when the limit was 40MPH and we were plodding over the 66 on the SC sections at that as we ended up going up some hills quite slow. But its interesting how those drivers who were all wanting to do 50 are now wanting to sit on the limiter now 50MPH is the legal limit as was predicted on this site when it was announced. If the legal limit went to 60 they’d be complaining their limiters were preventing them from doing 60 and trying to bypass them to get that extra few MPH because they’re never satisfied.
Oh and here is how you do the job dozy. I got a text telling me tomorrow nights run was a 22:15 start to do a Lockerbie which is a 10hr 39m planned run. I told them no and its ridiculous expecting drivers doing a 10+hr shift to start at that time so I’m doing a far more realistic 18:00 start instead and as a result won’t be driving back to the yard trying to hold my eyes open with matchsticks or spending all Saturday in bed. Thats what happens when you open your gob and stand up for yourself a bit.
I’ve tried it a few times also as I don’t fancy them sitting so close, couple of orange flashes and I knock off a few clicks. Sorted. But your right they just stay tight on your arse end peekin out now and again. Just no comfortable with it.
We re tracked also, so try and shove me all you want, it’s the doors you’ll be kissing. Am no gettin grief off anybody for speeding.
Dozy take this thread as a moment of epiphany, everybody on here can not be wrong and you right.
You have came on here moaning about not being able to get to a destination in time, so therefore inadvertantly admitted that the only way you can get through your workload is to run illegal by sitting on the limiter…who’s fault and ■■■■■■ hard luck is that do you reckon doze?
Certainly not your planners, they only set you these targets because they know you are daft enough to try and attempt them, and by doing so (by your own admissions on here) make balls up after balls up.
By having a pop at those that can complete their job without teararsing around like a ■■■■, (and like you do) just shows a degree of stupidity.
Have yourself a few moments thought mate and try and see for yourself what we all can.
Your right I could have done that. But I was going faster and fast enough for a normal overtake at the point I committed to overtake so I guess I thought he’s being the knob, I am staying here. I can guarantee that had I slowed down and gone back in he would have slowed down again anyway! But your right, I could. Decisions at the time eh!
On another matter, what dozy is basically saying is that stobarts plan your day so tight that you have to break the law/speed limits to complete your journey without getting an infringement? Hmmm sounds like a great company to work for. I wonder if the compliance manager there knows this?

Probably a compliance manager that’s told him to do it
On a side note…Wtf is a ‘Compliance Manager’ ? …and how exactly does he put in his 8 hour days for presumably something like 40 grand a year.
Is he on more than the Lavatorial Hygienist Manager, and on less than the Paperclip Supply Monitoring Manager out of interest.
Also are these guys, and ■■■■ s like them in non jobs, the reason for the pay level of the drivers being kept down to finance THEIR wages…just wondering like.
I along with many are watched over by telematics as for old bill ignoring you speeding doubt they will if your at fault in a serious rta am sure plenty of places available between A66 and Barlborough to get a shower
Good on ya dozy ,i agree with ya ,to slow get out the way,let the proper drivers do there job ,at the end of the day its the choice you make and if thats yours so be it
Kerragy:
The sooner we get trucks that report themselves for speeding the better.
I just hope that they give you a choice of what robot voice it uses when it calls the Rozzers.

Now why dont you tell us all how you never speed and are a driving god.If i want to sit at 56mph on the single parts of the A66 then a will if i feel it is safe to do so.

I’m not a driving god.
I’d never admit to breaking the law on the internet. I’m sure most non-driving gods have trimmed along on occasion, though.
I don’t really care if you want to sit at 56 on the single parts of the A66 if you feel it is safe to do so. Unless the driver in front of you doesn’t want to sit at 56 of course.
My point is the world is changing. Everything is fitted with Trackers. Members of the Stobart fan club (who the OP was driving for at the time) can see what speed any vehicle in the fleet is doing at any time. etc etc.
It’s not a dig and it’s not getting on my high horse. The time is coming in the not too distant future where GPS data will be logged for every (certainly commercial) vehicle, through the tacho or a module or something. If we have an accident that data will be used, along with the driver facing camera etc. etc. If a member of the public phones up the Old Bill with a complaint, it will be the first thing to be looked at. I still love the job, but it isn’t what it was and we can’t do what we did. We have seen the best of driving trucks in my opinion, but I’m still going to enjoy what there is left of it.
