To spin it round or reverse? is the question

Just curious to see if anybody on here is braver than me.

if this was your position after you had unloaded, would you spin it round on the mini roundabout or would you reverse onto the main road?

i’d reverse because it would be solds laws i’d snap an air line or as the trailer moved backwards i’d destroy an historic building along with a few road signs

because that the sort of luck i tend to get when i try new things like that in my truck. lol lol

cheers all

You can easily turn on that circle!! Groovy your too cautious :open_mouth:

Personally,I wouldn’t even think of screwing that round there :open_mouth: I’d go and ask if someone sensible where you’d just tipped if they would watch me back.

Difficult to judge from the pic. The main road doesn’t look too busy so I’d probably reverse, but it looks like it’d screw round there at a push, but much caution needed with the rear end swing. Also, I’d only consider screwing it round if it was empty or very light.

A professional would have a bit of respect for the tyres and reverse, if you had to pay for the tyres you certainly wouldn’t spin it. If you cause a bit of a hold up then so be it.

You can’t see from the pics just how much room there is. A lot depends on parked cars, street furniture etc. If there had been a car in the disabled bay I doubt he would have made it.

Thats in spalding and that will not screw round there !!!

Looks to tight to me, I’d stop the lot and get someone to watch me back. You don’t want to be making a call to the boss saying’ well boss it was like this…'. Better safe than sorry.

Just need to try telling this to some of the shunters i have come across in my travels

How long would some of these shunter survive on real roads?

I am sure DHL will discipline a driver for spinning when there is room to reverse.

wouldnt it have been just as easy to have reversed down and driven out? maybe you could have got someone where you were delivering to,to watch you reverse in, or in the pic out.

I think I would have reversed in as well, but if not would certainly reverse out, even if you dont snap an airline, you are going to stretch them and probably take out the no entry sign

remove airlines, shunt button, though tbh it does look a bit tight to screw it round. saying that so it royal mails yard at xmas in edinburgh during the night lol.

why didnt you reverse down the road?

But why make life difficult? 5 minutes manoeuvring will be still quicker than filling in all the insurance forms when you knock down a listed building

Screwing it round is deffinately NOT the best thing to do.
From experience, hooking chain link fencing on the boundary with the T bar and dragging 300m of the stuff down a yard does nothing for your credibility

Going by those pictures you could ‘‘physically do it’’ ie there is enough space. But you’re asking would i and the answer would be no because your lines would be stretched to ■■■■ , your tail swing thats the one that really worries me. Your back doors will be right on the pavement close to the no entry sign and you might even be close to the buildings, not to mention when you go into full jack-knife your trailer goes backwards which could lead to you hitting a pedestrian. Taking your susies out would help but then you’re on the public highway so you’d get your baws felt if the fuzz seen you. Too many risks involved there and that is what you have to do at each drop is make risk assessments in your head.

i personally would have just backed down that small road so that when you’re done you can just drive away, it would be the same as backing out but thats just my opinion

Looking at streetview it’s a no brainer… reverse back, or as some have suggested maybe you could have reversed in in the first place.
Rotate the view and it looks like it’s a very short reverse.

I was once told its better to be cautious and look like a div than to press on regardless and prove the point. I’d reverse out, less danger of flattening anything/one and no damage to tyres.

I am waiting for the follow up picture that shows a pile of stone rubble and a squished road sign
