To spin it round or reverse? is the question

Wheel Nut:
I am waiting for the follow up picture that shows a pile of stone rubble and a squished road sign

Nobody has mentioned the fact that by screwing it round wouldn’t do your tyres any good, Richard Ford would have had you out the cab and out the gates for screwing an artic round when you can reverse it out, tut tut.

Are you sure?

waddy640:
A professional would have a bit of respect for the tyres and reverse, if you had to pay for the tyres you certainly wouldn’t spin it. If you cause a bit of a hold up then so be it.

groovy greg:
Just curious to see if anybody on here is braver than me.

if this was your position after you had unloaded, would you spin it round on the mini roundabout or would you reverse onto the main road?

i’d reverse because it would be solds laws i’d snap an air line or as the trailer moved backwards i’d destroy an historic building along with a few road signs

because that the sort of luck i tend to get when i try new things like that in my truck. lol

cheers all
gregz

Did you make a decision in the end or are you still sitting there ?

Sorry must have missed it, thanks Peirre

As soon as i read the question, before reading other replies, I thought I wouldn’t have got myself into that position in the first place so I wouldn’t have that decision to make.

Would definately have reversed in, even if it meant having to go a way down the main road to turn round so it could be done non blind side.

Reverse, defo, aint worth the risk of any crap coming your way. Looks like you’d be revering blind too. If thats a regular tip I’m suprised they dont have a banksman to see you back. Looks a nasty one. I would wanna do it! :open_mouth:

Did you ask the Store what other Drivers do?
Looking at the Road, it doesn’t look damaged by Artics turning, so I’d say they reverse, unless it’s a new ‘job’ for an Artic.

I’m naff at reversing, but I’d reverse after grabbing some help from the place I’d just delivered to. I always carry a spare hi viz, just in case.

Not wishing to highjack the thread, but on the same theme.
A couple of us were on the way back from Swansea on Saturday afternoon and pulled onto Strensham msa n/b for a coffee.
There were no more than 6 motors on the truck park, when some young punk in a Volvo FM with tipper trailer, full weight, came onto the park round the outside and approached us from the exit end.
He pulled across the front of us and jack knifed round to get into a parking slot and I thought he was going to fetch the tyres off!
And the park was almost empty FFS!
He’s going to learn the hard way I’m thinking.
When one of ours pulling off a bay with a tandem with not a lot of weight on,jack knifing round to get out fetched a tyre off, shows how easy it is.
