TM CPC Course Providers

Hi.

I’m looking at taking my TM CPC in 2013 and am starting to put plans in place.

Just after some opinions of CPC Course providers.

I am willing to travel to get the best training for the right price. No I didn’t say cheapest. Just looking for Value For Money.

Knowledgable trainers are a must. I don’t just want someone who recites from a book.

DCPC Credits would be a bonus.

I will need good quality course materials.

So just wondering whether there is such a provider that comes close to my wish list.

Dean

Hi Dean

Not sure where you are from, this might be a little far… Swansea. I would recommend these though.

cotsolutions.co.uk/

I did my national and international with this company and now use them for our DCPC training and found them great. The owner and director is Jason, he used to be a TM for Norbert Dentressangle but started this company several years back, one of the trainers is also ex vosa and before that DVLA, needless to say their experience and knowledge are great.

They also signed off some of my DCPC.

The books you leave with are great! They break it down into documents (examples of real documents, ie applying for first tax disk), slides (the ones they show you as they explain each unit), and the main bulk of information they give you, all of it well numbered, they give you an empty file and you fill it as you go along, so you know you have seen and got everything. All in all its a enjoyable and informative course.

Thanks for the reply.

Not a million miles away as I’m in North Somerset and moving to Bristol in the next few weeks.

I will take a look at their site.

Cheers.
Dean

Not sure about your area but a quick Google found this (in Leatherhead)

eptraining.co.uk/cpc_training

Attend a 9 day national and international CPC freight course with EP Training and get 35 hours Driver CPC at the same time. Our CPC national and international freight course is J.A.U.P.T approved and can be counted towards periodic Driver CPC training hours.

Accommodation can be arranged locally from £25.00 per night for bed & breakfast — evening meals by arrangement.

Eight night’s B&B at £25 a night would work out cheaper than £350 for the DCPC course.

I did my national cpc with them 12 months ago, highly recommended, they also have an online facility that you can use at anytime. I will hopefully be going back this year to do international add on.

Did mine with CDS in Birmingham, would always recommend them;

Did CDS give DCPC credits for the course?

I saw WTTL when I was Googling around. I would go local with a good recommendation.

I did my national in Sept 07 & international in Mar 08, before DCPC, but did get 21 hours DCPC when I did my ADR with them in 2010, had to pay an upload fee thou, extra £58 I think.

Are you sure the upload fee wasn’t £8 that’s how much the company I used charged.

Possibly 58 quid for 35 hours

Was planning on doing mine last year (i.e. 2012) with Peter Smythe from Mansfield Woodhouse but for one reason or another it didn’t happen due to other commitments although I’ve done part of my DCPC there. It may be a long way from your neighbourhood but I’ve heard they do a deal for people to stay in a B&B when they take their driving test so it might be worth enquiring. Denby transport in Lincoln also run a course OCPC course too.

Agreed, although it was brain-splitting especially towards the end, you feel much more like you are working towards something than is the case with the DCPC. Good luck with it D and fire away with any questions!

Yes maybe that’s a bit more fair lol £58 sounded like a lot for just the upload fee! I think I was charged £8 for each unit, so £40 for my 35 hours.

Just checked, it was £8.75 per 7 hours, extra £26.25 for 21 hours.

I have enquired with PSTT already as took my CE with them.

Unfortunately they do not accredit DCPC tokens for their OCPC.

A shame as I have nothing but praise for them on the Practical Training.

Thanks for the luck and wishes Mr Monk.

As said before I’m sure you will be in the line of fire for lots of questions OCPC related.

Do you think Kent Metro was worth the money and a VFM experience?

dar1976:
Do you think Kent Metro was worth the money and a VFM experience?

No. Kent Metro subbed the course out to a company called TransEd, although I didn’t know this when I booked it. When I Googled afterwards, TransEd’s price for the same identical course in the same identical classroom was about £250 less so that’s the route I’d suggest for anyone in Kent doing it.

But as for the quality of the course, yes, couldn’t fault it. Just don’t book it through Kent Metro, go direct through TransEd.

A few for me to investigate. Thanks people.

A happy new year to you all

There is always Friendberry, not too far from you offering anything from home study to a full 10 day course ( or a mix of the two options if it suits you ) but it looks like you have to pay extra to get it counted towards your DCPC.

I’ve used them a few times, their courses are good, their home study books are good but their revision CD’s & DVD’s are rubbish

Sorry to hijack this thread slightly, i’m in the same situation as the OP. Although my boss is willing to pay for the whole course. I’ve looked into taking the OCPC with either the RHA or the FTA. Does anybody have some experience with either of the two? I live in North Northumberland and it looks like i’ll need to go to either Perth, Stirling or Newcastle. Or is there an alternative provider in the same kind of area that anybody would recommend. I’ve looked at doing it as home study, but reading the threads seems to point towards a classroom based situation. Thanks in advance.
