Don’t apologise. So long as all input stays around the OCPC Providers topic… It’s all good
How about Yorkshire? I’m from Leeds. Any recommendations?
I was reading in last weeks CM that it can count towards dcpc so makes sense to do a course, trouble is i would struggle with the 9 days away so have started a home based course, well ive sent the £43 to ebay for David Lowe’s book
Well… yes and no. TM CPC course may be counted towards DCPC but only if provider is JAUPT approved training centre. It’s worth checking if your chosen course can, because they are not all the same.

Hi puntabrava,
There have been some changes to the operator CPC format and syllabus, so for your sake, I hope that your ‘new’ book will be in-date for the CPC exams that you will take.

This ^^^
… because many people think that DCPC is automatic, but it isn’t.

Yorkshire is a little off my patch, but this might help:
Thank you Mr dieseldave. You are always very helpfull. I need to call them to ask for prices and whether they’d allow me to sit the exam only without necessity of taking a training course with them.
I wonder if there are multiple choice questions available anywhere? On OCR’s site I’ve only found Case study scenarios, questions and examiner’s reports. As for the multiple choice part there is only a sample in Assesment materials.
I’m looking to do the same. I’ve done two sessions of dcpc training with wttl. Have had no problems and will probably go with them.
Wouldn’t bother with System Training. They made all of their instructors redundant and have closed most of their sites.

Tommook,
Are you able to offer a link or some other kind of verification of this please?
I did some instructional work for them a while ago. Knew the Int CPC instructors well and the locations they used to have. They are down to a couple of sites now and have only 1 or 2 CPC instructors left. Try phoning and ask for Int CPC course at Leeds and you will be redirected to Carlisle or Stockton. Same has happened with their ADR provision

It turned up today, is 43rd edition for 2013!! Is a tad thick will have a look and see how heavy a job it looks.
The pass threshold is (might be was I could be out of date) pretty low for the exam. I used past papers as my main resource. Pretty sure you can get them online these days for free but you used to be able to buy them off the exam board. If you’re reasonably ok learning from books without assistance or already fairly knowledgable on road transport I would do a few past papers and mark yourself rigidly and see where you’re coming percentage wise before paying for a course. You just want a pass there’s no real extra benefit to passing with flying colours you’ll have forgotten it all by the time your haulage operation gets big enough to need most of what you’ve learnt in any case.
Also questions like the case studies where you plan routes to be legal within the regs etc. even if you didn’t know one bit you still get most of the marks providing your working is sound.

My way of thinking would be similar to yours, no good turning up stone cold to a course as it will only be more difficult without an understanding of sorts. The best part seems to be you can take any reading material you want into the exams well the written part anyway
An open book exam is only the case study part. No aditional help is allowed on the multiple choice part.

Hi Tommook,
Thanks for that, you’ve confirmed what I’ve heard on the grapevine.
After your comment, I checked the SQA list of approved ADR providers, but ST are still showing probably because they have a single licence, but they ticked the ‘mobile’ box on the application and so can run an ADR course at any suitable venue they please.
