tippers

Well, it’s looking like we could be getting some nearly new Hinos. I can understand why, considering what my Scania cost (06 reg so quite old for a tipper) in comparison.
I know Hinos have bunks, but do they come with night heaters etc? I’m somewhat concerned as my wagon is the oldest.

This is what I like about tipper work; The chance to get photos from unusual angles. This is the Radcliffe Observatory in Oxford, I’ve been working on the Blavantik School of Government in the city. In years to come I can say “I worked on that”.

Had you put the tipper on its side when you took the photo?

Night heater! :open_mouth: You are usually parked up at dinner time, it isn’t THAT cold then. :sunglasses: If you did more work you wouldn’t have time to feel cold…

 Of course I’m parked up at dinner time, Pete; I left double manning when I jacked in handballing flour.

The bunk in back is just a board & very little padding in it so would be a very uncomfortable night’s sleep/nap. There is no night heater either. Wonder how the new Hinos would be since there is no euro 6 engine for them yet. Why go to the trouble of purchasing an 06 Scania & respraying it if they are looking at new Hinos? Confusing. If it was a short term thing to keep you running on road, I’d not bothered painting.

They’re expanding so they wont necessarily get rid of mine and the sister one, I think they’re waiting to see which ones are troublesome (mine had a diff go after less than 4 days’ work).
They’re looking at secondhand Scanias aswell as the Hinos but for the same money you get nearly new Hino or old Scania. I like mine regardless of it’s age so I’m quite happy to keep it (aslong as I don’t pay the repair bills  )

I’d have a Scania over a Hino anyway  saying that though decent used Scanias for the right price are hard to come by, that’s why the used tipper market is so down ATM, you sell a nice decent truck you’ll get more than what it’s worth as people want it so badly.

The sister wagon to mine is very heavy on oil, we think it’s a breather problem (you can see it spitting when idling). Is this a common fault?

Hino don’t call it a bunk its a “storage area” a fella I know had a foam mattress cut to size, fitted a night heater & curtains(not frilly ones) but he is on bulk work,if your boss go’s for Hinos self lube is a must my 6 year old with a Gronenveld system has just gone through test no pins & bushs or ball joints needed, with a 1950’s sort of chassis those Hinos have more ■■■■■■■ than you’ll see in Oxford on a summer afternoon

See Brocks around all the time some of the motors are a bit old but seem well maintained,(my Hino or Volvo can’t catch them away from the lights )don’t think its a bad firm as the drivers never moan (now waiting for flak from discontented drivers )

I think Hinos have been put on the back burner; Boss has ordered 5 secondhand P cabbbed 340s (will be chipping to 400). Talking of getting a G cab with sleeper later in the year.
