tippers

TT, it was weighing on occasion on Monday but the display would suddenly go to U----kg. Now it stays on that. The lid of the junction box is cracked (I checked yesterday). The sister truck has the same system, which works but is still not that accurate. Said other truck has a manual in that one so I’ll see what it says, will pass on what you said to boss, cheers.

Drove a Scania with a Woodland weigher system and that did the same thing. Took all the plugs off the load cells sprayed them with WD40 plugged them back up. BINGO one working weigher. hope that helps?

Funnily enough I did that this afternoon; The box was full of manky water, soaked it up sprayed with WD40 and sealed the box and it worked. I did notice though the screen did go back to the U— screen once or twice. Plenty of time to test it tomorrow, the diff’s gone. :imp:
My weigher is the two cell system, not surprising why it diesn’t seem accurate.

Tipper Tom, when/what is the tare button for on a Napper weigher? I know on a PM it was called span, for setting the calibration weight. Is it the same sort of thing? I know zero button is for when stuff is sticking in the back etc.

Look at the gaps in the cells sometimes they need cleaning out with a broken hack saw blade .

The woodland had a long thin screwdriver to adjust the span or zero. i use to lift the body up loaded when sat on weighbridge and adjust readout to about 150kg less than weighbridge scale worked every time. Like Dan said clean under the loadcells with a hacksaw blade or check the bolts that the load cells down.

I think I’ve fixed it as it was displaying -20odd when I switched it on today. I cleaned out the gunk in the junction box when the lorry was broke down yesterday. I’m working tomorrow so I’ll try it.
Tarmactipper, I know of those Woodland systems with the screwdriver; Are they still made? Smiths fitted them for a while but they were never as good as PM weighers.

Tare can be set in a sub menu accessed with the units password (typically in the manual).

Once it’s set it shouldn’t be ■■■■■■ about with

Either that or a bodged repair prior to us getting it; Plenty of mastic inside when it was stripped out. Fair play to Dan though, it’s all fixed and ready for me to go this morning.

Dont know if they still make them? Its on a 57 plate Scania. We had a T reg ERF with a PM system on it that was bang on to 10kgs, had the wagon for 4 years never touched the weigher  ■■■■■■■ CELECT 380 CHIPPED UP, Twinsplitter, eminox exhaust and jake brake  :unamused: not much touched it round these parts :grimacing: :smiling_imp:

Our lot are going to chip our P340 upto a 400, I assumed to even it against my 420. No, they want to chip mine upto 480 and the boss’ son wants either twin ehausts or a straight through pipe because for it too :sunglasses:
They’re ordering me a new sunvisor and I’m also getting some spotlights for the roof. I’m not used to bling I wont cope

What benefits does chipping the engine bring? I assume more pull from the engine when loaded up.

I don’t know anything about chipping, I gather more power and economy. I wont complain if they do mine, I’ve already flown by several much newer tippers, one was just after they said it was an “old heap of ■■■■”

That’s the main topic of conversation or moaning should I say lol at our firm, there’s one lad who’s complaining his wagon only does 54-55mph on the speedo while we can all fly past him, but we’ve found out if he’s using cruise control it knocks it down to 54-55mph while if he uses the accelerator pedal it actually does the full 56mph and he catches up with us, since it’s still under warranty as its a 13 plate it’s currently at Scania dealer getting checked out. Our new Scanias we got before Xmas (63 Reg), both the drivers who use them are happy with it as it flies like ■■■■ they say. Me I’m happy with the speed as long I can get my job sheet completed for the day.

I dont know whos the owner or the hometown area of this Scania R420 , so I`ve placed the photograph on this thread.
It was parked in Ingleton , North Yorkshire , last week. Maybe “BIBS” , “Malc Step” , or “Dalesman” will have the answers.

Now then, “Muckaway” , could you manage to drive summat of that size ? :unamused:
Maybe a tad too much power for your delicate boots .  Oh,…and there`s no frilly cab curtains . :frowning:

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

I’ll have a go CWM when the plod aint watching.
Keep meaning to do Class 1 but the money on tipper work (days) isn’t really any different, abd do I want to just see Hansons all the time?

My old tipper was chipped up. It increases your ability to climb hola without changing down and there fore improves fuel economy.

Some drivers however believe it makes your ■■■■ grow. It doesn’t
